Just had lunch at the JB. Was lovely.

Doesn't have to be Warrington either. Cheshire or this side of Manchester would be fine.'"
The Punch bowl, just outside Kendal , you won't get a better meal or a better pint of real ale.

Crossthwaite??
If so - the ale choice is ok but pretty limited. The food is top notch however.

| I did a pub crawl the other week and had lunch in the Wheatsheaf, Broomedge. Nothing fancy but brilliant, fresh food. You can't beat proper chips! The food looked lovely in Ye Olde No 3 and there's a decent garden with stuff for kids. Would also recommend the Sportsmans in Penketh if you like Italian food or the Ferry of a weekend for fish and chips.
Why oh why people eat in these god awful Marstons type microwave chain pubs when there are so many great places locally owned and serving fresh produce I will never understand.

This. I've heard people talk about Chapelford Farm like it's a top class restaurant.
It's alright when these sort of places are charging a tenner for two meals or buy one get one free, but £8 or £9 for something you basically heated up from frozen is ridiculous.

The Chapelford farm is gash, chips with no potato in and sweaty Carvery, food that is ready in 15 mins after ordering should be avoided! The service is shocking and the fact you cant order drinks when getting food drives me nuts!
I asked for the steak pie to be made without mushrooms once and they couldn't give me a straight answer as to why they couldn't! No telly for sport in a local pub is stupid too!

| "chips with no potato in"
That famous muddy cup tie at Barrow in 2002 (?), we were running late and went to get food from the ten pin bowling place across the road. My mate wanted bangers and mash. They said "not got any potatoes, you can have chips if you want".

That is what I don't understand, there are so many locally owned pubs serving great food for the same price, if not less.
I live in Whittle Hall and I have been to the Chapelford farm three or four times, they seem perplexed if you walk into the pub without wanting to eat anything. One day I had lunch and it reminded me of school dinners at Sycamore Lane.
We are off to the Wheatsheaf tonight, I'm looking forwards to it!

The kids were moaning for an ice cream on Friday so I took them to the Chapelford Farm's 'Ice Cream Parlour' I stood for 20 mins waiting to be served at the ice cream till while 3 bar staff stood by waiting for drinks customers, I asked if one of them could serve me and they couldn't because they have not been trained to scoop the ice cream, WTF is the world coming to!!
Then tried to order a drink for myself but told i couldn't use the ice cream till to order drinks in a pub!!!
