Going to be interesting v Leigh next game as their past 2 games have posted impressive results.

Am I right in thinking 4 out of 6 was the consensus for an acceptable start to 2023. I think we are looking good at this stage, but I'll be interested to see how we handle the slip ups in terms of bouncing back.

it appears that we have a side now that goes out of their skin to win a game... been a while since we had one of those.

Dont like listening to matches on radio, but I always thought this would be a sticky one. Read bits in the WG and sounds like we found a way to win despite some sloppy play. That's a good omen - especially with Harrison out.
And next week we should have Philbin and Dudson available, so that should help the bench at the very least.

Looks like the bad influences have been removed and a strong team spirit has taken hold. I imagine Powell has been able to focus on coaching now, rather than battle with players unwilling to fully commit to the cause. It was uncomfortable watching last season but the necessary actions were taken to (hopefully) rid the club of rotten apples - it certainly looks like it's working so far.

Well done to Powell too for winning manager of the month.

Do HKR fans have there own website like a few of the other teams do, would like to go read their views on tonight’s game, i did hear them calling the referee a W at half time so clearly not happy about some decisions.

4-4 on the penalties. So I guess it was the six agains they didn’t like. But we did get pinged several times for our play the balls, so that evens it up.

Looking forward to going to the Leigh game next week. Great result for them tonight, should be a good match up.

Although I myself expected nothing less that 6/6 from those fixtures.

The only real negative for me was Drinkwaters defence, it was poor and that’s being generous. Hopefully it’s just a one off but he needs to improve.

That’s like critiquing a midfielder for not saving penalties.
Halfbacks are generally the best minds on defence in the game, because they set up the defensive to do the tackling for them.
If they are faced to tackle, it’s quite often because the defenders around him have left the halfback vulnerable.

Paul Cullen was asked in an interview after his career of playing had ended. ‘Who was the best defender he ever played against and with?…”Jonathan Davis”…because he would set up the defensive line and I would do his tackling for him’

The best defence for a halfback is to attack, if he is tackling, he is burning up what he needs to do to win the game.
