No coach resigns. Mutual agreement is the term for sacked in RL.
They want their contract paid.

I don’t know the terms when Paul Cullen left the club.
But he is the only one I ever heard of someone condition free resigning.
I’m sure there must be, but it’s very rare.

I respect Paul Cullen highly.

I do remember the try well. The idea that Monaghan threw out the pass on purpose is stretching it a bit far.

I'll be honest at the time I thought he'd done it on purpose too - watching that clip again I highly doubt it. Monaghan was superb - not sure he was that good though.

We were pushing to score as we were 2 points behind, 2 minutes left and likely our last attack of the game. Dorn just read the pass and intercepted.

Once he moved to hooker, he was superb.

He was only average as a scrum half, (Where Cullen signed him for and only selected him to played there).

He was playing hooker for Manly before we signed him, and Tony Smith moved him back to No.9. for Wire.

It's strange to think back that we still had worse to come after Cullen went in May 2008. In my view the turning point was March 2009 after the 8-60 hammering at the Stoop (the Matt King V's game, Smith's 2nd game). 5 months later we were lifting the Challenge Cup.

I remember watching Monaghan playing in Oz just before he came over to us. He was superb at hooker & I remember saying how he would change us for the better. When he arrived he was a pretty ordinary scrum half. Thankfully he went back to hooker & he was superb from then on.

We had Monas to play 7 on the recommendation of Andrew Johns who scuppered his agreement in a London night club toilet.

Cullen should have resigned immediately after that defeat to hull kr in the cup. It should never have got to whether monas threw out a deliberate interception or not.

What about the season before, 2005, losing 6-40 at home to Hull FC in the elimination playoff in front of a capacity crowd - and that's with Johns playing. Or the Powellesque 2 wins from 10 in 2006? Or missing the playoffs all together in 2007?

Nevermind, with a win ratio (48.9%) worse than Reg Bowden we will get to enjoy and reminisce the good old days every time we see the mural.
