| Quote: Ian [77] ""Don't take it personally 71, he's not questioning your manhood, he's only seeking to draw a disctinction between different types of spectators.
It's a moot point anyway - the reality is that if only the die hards turned up, we wouldn't amount to very much. Every club needs their 'walk up' support.
I think Che is right - the only comment I'd make is that he's got it the wrong fan round, isn't 'fan' short for 'fanatical'? Shouldn't that label be applied to the 'thick and thing' supporters?'"
I didn't make my point very well because I was annoyed at the time. I did not attend but I understand the point to be as shown below. In relation to this point my view is that it is the supporters/fans job to make clear what is acceptable and what isn't when considering the performance on the pitch. This is often achieved through staying away and booing/not clapping etc. It is also the supporters/fans job to salute achievement and to cheer the team on. In the dark days of early 2009 the team always came out to rapturous applause only for themselves to put in a performance which deserved derision.
I am of the belief that the reaction of the crowd at the Cas home game in 2008 made PC's position untenable, and quite rightly so for all the reasons we have discussed. That team deserved to be booed off, as it did at Harlequins this year when they clearly turned it in.
I took exception to Tony Smith's comments as he hasn't experienced the dross that we have over the last n years and in no position to comment on what it is like to be a Warrington fan. Those fans who do/did boo have watched Warrington long before his arrival, and will do long after he has gone.
So in summary, yes support your team, but also you need to voice dissatisfaction too when it is merited.
Quote: Ian [77] "tony smith was quick to mention about the difference between fans and supporters. He said we should give credit to the players when we lose and not just when we win. the fans are the ones that go to the games when we are winning and boo them when we lose and the supporters are the ones that support the team through thick and thin whether we are top of the league or bottom of the league.'"

See my slightly more considered post above.
Not sure about a raw nerve fella, missed a few this season I admit and on the otherhand went to Edinburgh, Quins, Barca. I just get tired of all this fan/supporter crap. In my view you are as good as the last game you attend.

That makes me a great fan!

Well, as it was free entry but you could join the supports trust for a fiver, all of them should have been.

| This has, as usual, been blown out of proportion and taken out of context. He was not criticising a particular section of Warrington fans. It was more generic than that about expectations and how you accept defeat in sport.
The man is so laid back, yet focussed; relaxed, yet challenging.

And surely those who brag about how many matches they attend, and suggest others aren't such good fans would be members....

You would think so wouldn't you?
BTW So it was not mandatory to join the ST last night in order to attend the meeting?? Perhaps the trust should consider this. A fiver for a year long membership is a derisory amount for what you get in return.

| train ticket if i book over 3 weeks in advance £66 return plus £17 entry isn't that bad for me but i work all Fridays so the Friday matches are out of the question.
I have a 26 week rota which gives me 10 Saturdays out of 26 off and 12 Sundays.
Not always falling on a home fixture. If it's a local derby match away i can stay with family.
If it's a Saturday away fixture the late kickoff means i need a hotel for the night which i don't really want to do
So Fridays are out of the question
Late Away games except derbies out the question
So then i have to hope that a game falls on the weekend i have off and doesn't conflict with the bold type
So when im told that im not a good supporter by some (which i do) it F---s me off.
As i say to anyone who meets me who asks what i miss about not living up north anymore my reply is always 'my mates and the wire' not even the family come into it.
No-one has the right to judge what level of supporter i am and tell me which slot i fit into
[sizeNerve well and truly hit LWF[/size

Hear hear. Just ignore them Yed. These fans that comment on fan superiority are guilty (together with the club at times sadly) in thinking that the fan base reside within a 3 mile radius of the half-way line.

This sort of thing was discussed at the AGM.

Let me reiterate. That was no the point TS was making. His point was about long views, the ups and downs of sport etc
