Exactly. I leave every Sunday 3pm home game a couple of minutes early if the game is effectively won for either side by then (seven points would do it but six wouldn't) in order to get a quicker train home rather than stand at Central station for half an hour. If we were getting battered last night (as I fully expected us to after fifteen minutes!) I'd have left early to get the 21.55 train rather than the 22.27 which of course I got quite happily in the end.
If people have a problem with that fine, I couldn't care less, but it happens everywhere whether you like it or not.

| the fact our fans do it when the match isn't in contention and alot stay to clap them off. last night it was a hard fought game every wire fan stayed and clapped them off but most of wigans walked off when they were 6 points down. thats a bit too early

Yeah, it made me laugh.
A crustmuncher tweeted me last night saying that it is the same for every SL club, and they only call it the Wigan walk "because it's alliteration".

It's still there, but they had to put a new one in recently, overuse apparently.

| As a Wigan fan it bemuses me that so many people leave before the end. I have never left a game early no matter what the result. I go to a game to watch the whole event including the after match celebrations/commiserations. I guess everyone has their reasons e.g. missus wanting a pee, going for a train, wanting to miss the traffic jams etc. Even when the team lose like last night I couldn't fault the effort and so they still deserve to be clapped off. Whilst it is always dissappointing to lose it was great to see the Wire fans so vocal at the end and enjoying their moment of victory. It adds to the atmosphere of the big games and is good for the sport on TV. It probably won't be last game between the sides this year and at 1 game all it tees up the GF nicely! Bring it on.

Alliteration? So would the Wire Walk, the Wakey Walk, the Saints Stroll or the Tiger Trot! It's known as the Wigan Walk because so many of them do it so well, so often!

| I thought those near us (in the NW corner) were very polite as they left early. As we waved bye to them they reminded us that we would take the two points. A few of them must be clairvoyants as they were predicting the one pointer!
