I've watched since the sixties & they have never continuously set the world alight even though we have had plenty of magnificent wins in that time. I have never really expected them to become a club that will build a dynasty & can't see that happening anytime soon. '"
But... there is no reason we cannot compete at the very top of SL given our fundamentals now. We are a wealthy club with a large following, excellent facilities, modern stadium in a large town. Why on earth can we not compete with St Helens? To suggest "it was ever thus" is defeatist in my view and lacks ambition. |

I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. Our current coaching team are under relatively less pressure & I hope they enjoy the unique coaching situation that they find themselves in.

Indeed, the game moves on.
If teams stayed dominant forever, then Batley, Dewsbury and Swinton would still be the top teams in Rugby League. |

The break now should help them get across what they want by the Leeds game, and they should get no time off and start to train how to become a team again.

Remember when Dorahy left, and we put Alex Murphy and Paul Cullen in charge for a game at Wilderspool against Wigan, and Nigel Vagana blitzed them with a hat-trick. One of my favourite Wire games of the 1990s. I remember the build up and hype about that game being unusually high and I had a feeling all week that we would win.
The one I didn't expect to win was after DVDV left and then Neil Kelly who was supposed to be taking over, changed his mind and re-signed with Widnes. Paul Darbyshire took charge against Bradford who were at their most dominant and we beat them in a night game on Sky with Rob Smyth running the winning try into the corner near the end.'"
