| Philbin is banned for Wigan and saints, dudson likely to be a fair bit longer really. It's going to be tough the next couple of weeks, I really hope bullock is back for Friday.
Saints fans anti saints conspiracies are unpalatable at the minute. If Cooper did that to Knowles they'd be baying for blood saying its one of the worst offences they've ever seen!! When it's their own and he rightly gets banned they're up in arms, it's absolutely pathetic. If one of theirs does similar to philbins offence and gets a 1 game ban we can be certain that the Saints favouritism from the disciplinary panel is well and truly still there, and it's still not enough for them.

| If you're going to be a grub then maybe committing a foul that leads to a season, and possibly career, ending injury to the nephew of the chair of the disciplinary committee isn't the smartest move.

I tend to agree. I've watched it numerous times and I'm struggling to see any malice in the tackle. Looks like Cooper turning at an odd angle while being 2 man tackled, Lussick then makes it a 3 man tackle, which, by doing so, leaves Knowles with nowhere to go but on the back of Cooper as he falls.
What I do find pretty bemusing with these disciplinary charges, is that the RFL appear to be turning a blind eye now to cheap head shots (see Singleton in the same game), while going after players for what could easily be argued are accidental injuries which are inevitable to happen in a contact sport where you can have upto 3 players carrying out a challenge.
Maybe players would be advised to just take out a player with a straight arm to the head, rather than involve themselves in a multiple player tackle?

Don’t want to fall out karetaker after comments on yesterday’s thread.
However in my humble opinion Morgan Knowles his the one who should be getting 6 matches and Dudson, 3 matches.
Joe Philbin can also count himself lucky with 2 matches if it’s the tackle which ended the Catalans hookers match is what he’s been suspended for.
Hipdrop tackles, Cannonball tackles and chicken wing tackles are all far worse offences than Dudson’s punch.
They have potential to end a player’s career!
A few years back Mike Mckeenen would have floored Dudson after that incident in the brawl that would have ensued but was disciplined enough to hold back.
Will Johnston play this weekend very probably?
Will De Costa play this weekend very doubtful?
Will Cooper play again this season we await the outcome of scans?

What’s to fall out about. You are right about the offences you say are worse because they are pure poop house types of tackles. Some people have made references to players of yester year but the game is nothing like those days, don’t get me wrong I loved it as much as anyone but the game as been sanatised to death now and as such we all have to go a long with it.

Yep the actions were the same, but the force used was very different. Not condoning by the way, Dudson is a grad A idiot and the smirk will come back to haunt him.

Cmon,
Flowers punch was landed with 3 times the force on a guy who was already concussed on the floor from the tackle.

I think the point was that a punch can also end someone's career, not specifically Dudson's.
But I generally agree with your point. I'd rather be on the receiving end of a Duson punch than a Knowles hip drop.

A couple of Warrington lads have been suggesting that Cooper will drop out of the game for the last couple of weeks.

He didn't tear them. Scummy Knowles did. Regardless of our views on Cooper's contributions last season, I'm sure we all agree no player deserves this. Will Knowles be banned? It's a shame the perpetrator can't be banned as long as the victim.

| As an aside, what's with the prevalence of arms round necks as players go to ground. Seem to be overlooked all the time. Grunt is one thing, but wrenching on necks another.

| Genuine request here. Could someone please explain the hip drop tackle technique and what the player is doing deliberately amd illegally when carrying one out?
Don't want to get too much 'the game's gome soft', but RL has always been a game played on the edge, where injuries can be picked up, so I'm just curious about that fine line between a tackle being deliberately carried out with intent to injure.

The defender swings round the back of the player being tackled and uses his lower half weight (hence the hip 'drop') to force the attacking players legs to buckle due to weight behind them. The problem is that the attacking players leg/s can get trapped as they buckle. It's useful for bringing a player to the floor quickly, since they clamped down on cannonball tackles a while back. They can still result in nasty injuries though.
EDIT: I'm not sure of the 'illegality' issue as I haven't seen the exact guidance on what's acceptable and what is not.
