It's not often a player will receive a very long term contract, it does put off other clubs from circling, however it also shows the confidence the club has in Hilly, and the confidence he has in the club. Absolutely delighted we can keep players of his quality now.

Hilly has worked so hard to keep improving at this level, and done so much more than expected.

He's our top tackler (and only missed 10 tackles, 1.95%), top carrier, and top metre maker. Many fans favourite player, including me.

Interesting to note the description of this contract, it's a long term pay rise, Not a contract where he can change his mind and opt out for a move in a couple of years.

A club that's negotiating with a player that has his eyes elsewhere and so the club is forced to accept that clause when they don't really want it.

The Chris Hill deal is huge for us. I'd feared earlier in the season when we were struggling that the signs were we were a club on the way down and guys like Hill and Grix would privately be thinking its time to look elsewhere.

Recent developments have been very positive: the team has started winning and playing like it did in the past few seasons, TS has committed to us, we've signed Ashton Sims and now Hill has committed the majority of the rest of his career to us.

For a player like Hill who would no doubt have other options to make such a long commitment is a massive signal. He would have taken his time over this and wanted to see firm evidence that Warrington could match his ambitions and give him the chance to win more major trophies. Obviously he has seen that.

I feel much more positive about Wire and the future than I did at the start of the year.

I think Hill is great to watch with his recently developed side step & his passing game to supporting players.

Plus the fact his contract will ,depending on his future improvement & progress, mean that any suitor clubs from home or abroad will have to pay a transfer fee.

Hill was very good in his first season with us and has become a real quiet 'leader from the front' now.
A great asset for the club.

Hilly has been side stepping and passing offloading for years, he might have not done as much in his 1 st couple of years on Smithys orders, but it isnt a new skill for Chris

And I agree, the MOS award would not look out of place on his mantlepiece
