"Leeds is the greatest club in Rugby League"
Alex Murphy 2011: |
|
| Quote: pies-r-us "Well played Wire! Glad to see Leeds get no reward for a mediocre season in that one. A good win for consistency.
In fairness Leeds weren't really tested on their route to the Final and having to play teams like Leigh (no disrespect) and Wigan hardly prepared us for the big day. Well done Warrington, the Delaney non-try after half time could have made a huge difference but overall Warrington played the more expansive rugby and deserved to lift the trophy. Hodgson did well to play on after his monster hit and is the hardest fella in Superleague for me alongside Burrow.

| Top performance by Warrington today and well deserved.
Shame about the Delaney no try as it might have made the game more competitive but these things happen.
Hats off to Briers who got some stick from the fans and takes it with good humour unlike a certain player from Wigan.
As for someone stating class shows in the end.
Quite right and we certainly need to start putting our hands in our pockets as it proves money can buy success

The decision on the Delaney try was the wrong one it should have been a Warrington penalty ! Not for the challenge but for the fact he was off side , he was in front off Leuluai whom had knocked it on ! Hodgeson knocked it backwards towards his own line having reviewed it on numerous occasions ! Silverpud gave us nothing and kept Leeds in the match ! The pen against Briers for obstructing Hall if you watch it back Briers feet didn't move he stood his ground and Hall ran into him ! Good play from Hall to milk the pen though but Leeds tend to rely a lot on conning refs to gain ground rather than playing well !
Wire v Pies Grand Final next teach them arrogant gits a lesson again next like the two other lessons we have given them ! MAKE MINE A DOUBLE

Think you might be wrong on the Delaney one mate.
The VR plays the first offence i.e knock on by Hodgson.
Second offence is Leulai knocking on then Delaney is the third offence offside.
Briers doesn`t move his feet but dips his shoulder penalty is correct IMO.
Not sure Silverwood gave us everything either.
The punch on Ablett could have been a sin binning for Wood.
Overall no complaints the best team won.
We should have moved the ball out wide more instead of trying to take on your pack which again was imense.
Our strength is our offloads and we needed players like McGuire and dare I say it Webb to feed off those had they played.
Hope you stuff the Pies BTW

| What puzzles me about that incident is how Leeds got a scrum out of it...the ref was clearly heard talking to the VR about a mistake being made as to whose scrum it was when in the first instance the scrum was given to Warrington then given to Leeds. As we know the tackle was deemed to be fair by the VR, so if there was no offside, according to the VR, & no Leeds knock on it was a perfectly good try.

| Why are folk still debating the Delaney No-Try? The rules are really quite straightforward, and its easy to surmise the ref's call:
Fair tackle --> Hodgson spills ball (1st knock on) --> Leuluai fumbles ball (2nd knock on) --> Scrum Attack (Leeds ball)
Delaney's offside doesn't even enter into it. The only confusion I see is the screen saying Scrum Defence and Silverpud awarding Scrum Attack, thus changing the judging (quite correctly). Here endeth the lesson.

We had the ball so Leeds were defending, Scrum Defence was the correct decision on the screen. All pretty clear cut and a little irritating that much of the media is reporting the incident as if Leeds were denied a legitimate try.

I agree with both the above, it seems uninformed comment plus people that have not seen the replay of the incident.
And in any case, it would have made no difference to the result if a try had been allowed. Leeds simply didn't have the belief, the game plan or the personnel out there to win.
