More like some of our fans have short memories about Barrett. He was a class player at Wigan but at the time their team was a bit iffy and still rebuilding after the dire state it had been left by Millward, having Barrett in their team probably pushed them 2 or 3 places higher in the league than they would otherwise have been at the time.
The unusual thing about Wigan in their recent revival under Maguire is they aren't a team of superstars, apart from Tomkins, they are a squad of good players that's well organised and overachieved, which is why they have been vying with us and Leeds for the trophies rather than out ahead cleaning up. I reckon if Barrett or Adrian Lam had been in the Wigan team of the last couple of years they would been out in front on their own.
It's a shame every Wigan supporter and super league player thinks the complete opposite he only went and won Super League Players' Player of the Year in 2007. But as you say he's a Wigan player so automatic negative view must be expressed.
