it's funny that 'cause i was in the ground from 6.30 and to be honest you wern't that loud, perhaps that explains why when everyone else turned up they couldn't hear you!
funny how all the flag waving stopped! even funnier the wigan walk before the end from the east stand with only 2 points in & 7 mins to go...very wiganesque!

| Is it just me but every time Wigan scored,i thought a backing tape was been played of the crowd cheering. It sounded very badly recorded.
The away was in good voice.

| I'm slightly confused when people are saying we were flat. Where I was it was pumping. Couldnt hear much of Wigan either.
Mind you, Friday night in my front room is better than the HJ.

Well said mate . We always outsang saints whilst they were busy putting 40 or 50 points on the scoreboard. I'm sure it really bothered them.

Due to a major cock up we were in the ground when the doors opened at about 6 30 & all you could here from the Wigan end were several Wigan versions of the well known anthem "Oh Warry Warry !", obviously sung as a tribute to the Mighty Wire by the "Wigan wannabe Wire fans".

| How loud the other set of fans are depends entirely on where you are in the ground. The section with the flags waving was as far away from the away fans as you can get, so if they were singing all game they will have sounded loud to those around them, but less so to those at the other end of the ground - especially those at the back of our end and those singing themselves.
To those at the other end it will be the reverse.
We heard "Wigan Wigan Wigan" because that was chanted by people nearer to us in the ground, and also witnessed "The Wigan Walk" because it was largely made by people nearer to us, not by those at the opposite end who were making the most noise, albeit not as far as we could tell.
I can assure you all that 6,000 travelling Stoke City fans make far more noise than Wigan or Warrington fans do, but last Sunday from my position at the back of the stand opposite them with everyone around me standing and singing I barely heard a thing from them. When I moved to the front of that stand with a few minutes to go, where most people were sitting silently and it was a more open area, it was as if the volume at the other end had suddenly been cranked up ten notches and they came across loud and clear.
Simple acoustics make all the difference.
As an aside though, the Celtic song in the first post in this thread and She Wore A Yellow Ribbon can't have been sung very loudly on Friday night, because I was in the Warrington end (albeit the backrow in the corner) and didn't hear either of them once!

| I agree the result is more important than who makes the most noise - I rarely sing personally anyway - but if Wigan Ultras want to outsing/intimidate/whatever the away fans they need to follow the lead of Wigan Athletic's main lot of vocal support and move to the corner of the East Stand next to the away end.
They're never gonna be heard much from the back of the opposite end.

| From my position in the middle of the west stand the sounds and atmosphere was superb from both ends and opposite in the east stand, a great night in many ways.

| Wigan's vocal support is better than Warrington's and a lot of the flags do look good. I don't see how anyone can really argue the toss about that because it's true.
Warrington's song book and England flags with Millwall slogans on would be embarrassing if I cared enough to be embarrassed by them. Thankfully I don't, but they are completely woeful.

I can see why you like them. Similar to the shocking, laughable shiite put out at Anfield. Cringeworthy stuff.
