| Quote eddie gordo="eddie gordo"What a pile of crap. How many millions watched X Factor? They weren't force fed it or made to watch it - they chose to.
The whole thing's a load of irrelevant tripe - Cowell couldn't buy this publicity and will, once again, be laughing all the way to the bank.
Remember, the public gets what the public wants.'"
My thoughts exactly. Since when has anyone cared what was Christmas No. 1 anyway, seriously?
No-one has a gun held to their head when mulling over if they should buy the X-Factor single or not. If you want to buy it, buy it, if you don't, don't. The irony of the whole Team RATM argument isn't lost on me - 'don't do what Simon Cowell tells you, do what we tell you instead.' Brilliant.
Am bored with all this now.
That said, it's an awesome tune. I shan't be buying it though, I did that fifteen years ago, when I was raging against the machine, maaan. Now I'm a stock controller, go figure, eh.

My comments were nothing to do with the programme. Where are the options to the hyperbole that is the X-Factor single?
Cowell has no need for additional publicity, the radio stations have been hammering on for the past twelve weeks about the contestants, that it is a closed shop.
Ask yourself this; who else is vying for the Nr1 besides the two aforementioned?

| Quote Geordie="Geordie"I used to enjoy the race for christmas number one but xfactor and other of a similar ilk have killed it off.
If this inspires others to produce good quality christmas songs in the future that will compete then I am all for it. With the exposure of Xfactor it is going to be very difficult for anyone to compete and for that reason I am pleased about the uprising against xfactor.
I dont care about Cowell or really whether Joe or ratm wins it would just me nice to have the competition back again.
When was it that the last good quality crimbo song was released?'"
On the seven days of Christmas my true love came to me,
A peregrine falcon, proper bo I tell thee,
She had two trainers and a beanie hat,
A new set of headphones all shining black,
I didn't sleep that night,
For Santa to come,
I wet the bed, that's what I had done,
Cos Christmas time is the place to be,
I always wake up in a puddle of =#FFFF00wee,

| I think I might be missing the point of all this. Simon Cowell/The X Factor does not control viewing figures or record sales. We, the public do. If millions of people choose to watch the X Factor every week then buy the single after it then that song getting to number 1 is merely a reflection of what the public wants?!
In answer to Geordies question, the last time we got a good christmas single was 2003, The Darkness!!

| What odds are we looking at now then? Rage are favourites on Betfair but I can't find prices with any high street bookies online.

The best post ever on the whole silly affair, yet the idiots who want to get RATM to number cant see the point you just made. Maybe if they had more than one braincell between them they might.

| Suspended on Betfair now with reports suggesting Rage have won. It's not officially confirmed for another couple of hours but is looking virtually certain according to quite a few websites now. Made up.

Why are you made up??....It's no more a valid Xmas christmas number 1 than the X Factor effort.....Ultimately, it won't change a single thing in the music industry.....Those who got caught up in the whole RATM campaign will go back to moaning about how music was so much better when they were youngsters, and Simon Cowell will continue to make money out of the mainstream public who thrive on the dross he markets.
As I said before, just ignore the man and his puppets, instead, buy and listen to the music that YOU like (Not what some silly campaign tells you to like and buy) and leave the sheep to enjoy their pointless chart countdowns, which became irrelevent a long, long, time ago.
