I think Cooper can replace Rau's offloads (and hopefully have a bit more sense about when to do so)

Solomona is a player i fear playing against but not one i would really want to see at Warrington.

Not sure about Atkins either, this signing would question Bridges involvement in the team (and we still need a proper goal kicker). From what i have seen of Bridge this year he is a competant emergency cover half back, not a planned replacement half back.

King could play winger, but then Riley will be sat on the bench, i now he is hardly the best player but i like having his speed in the team

Briers and Mylers tackling in the same defence (and Penny) i am unsure about but will be exciting in attack

For the time being i would leave Matt King at left centre as his confidence is sky high at the min, he seems a confidence type player and moving him to the wing could possibly have an adverse effect on his form but then again if Ryan Atkins was at left centre our left side would be big and dangerous, i`d prefer to make a bid for Shenton over Atkins but you have to back Tony Smith`s judgement if it happens.

Competition for places is going to be massive now which can only be healthy for us, i`m not sure on Solomona, if its a pay as you play deal or minimal cost to us in his salary then he could give us a lot of impact from the bench as that way by starting from the bench we have a better chance of keeping him fit.

Agreed. Atkins and Solomona would both be poor signing's IMO. I really can't see us signing Solomona, looks like the Atkins deal is going to happen though.


If we are willing to throw 200k at a young centre (which I highly doubt), why not get the best one in Shenton. Atkins isn't worth 20% of that, we paid 200k for Martin Gleeson, and got 100k for him when he left, he was better then Atkins when he arrived and left.

I often wounder if the Journalists writing these stories actually expect the readers to believe them when they come out with these crazy transfer fee's.

I know Fozzard had a bad shoulder but he was never as bad as Solomona.

Should we have signed Carvell in the light of his injury record....?

Lots of our fans hedged their bets with Carvell when we signed him, like they will with Solomona (including me to an extent). The forum had posts of people saying why did we never learn about signing players with a bad injury record, but he's a good player etc. This way everyone can sing Carvell's praises now and brag to the Hull fans that we made the signing of the season, but then if he did pick up an injury everyone would be straight on the forum saying I told you so, we should never have signed him!

Sometimes you have to take a gamble when you think the rewards outweigh the risks, signing Fozzard and getting Hilton back was a gamble but those two were good for us, signing Carvell was a major gamble and thats paid off. Even Adrian Morley a lot of people had their doubts, they said his body was shot in Aus and he would never last a four year deal, Morley has actually got better season by season and with only one to go I'm hoping somebody offers him an extension!

I think Atkins is a bit of a rough diamond, tbh. He's big, powerfully built, and has all the natural attributes to make it as a top level centre. He hasn't hit the heights you'd perhaps expect to see for someone who showed such potential early in his career, but he's still young and I'm sure if there is one coach in the competition to get the best out of him, it's Che Smith.

I seem to remember this forum almost imploding under the weight of the criticism the signing of Mathers recieved.
