| Quote the tache is back="the tache is back"took manly to a grand final playing there,his semi final performance was immense,it's his best position and i would have him and clarke there all day long,if you spell them correctly they are the best hooking combo in superleague(piddle off saints fans,fatty's past it, thats why he's just a dirty barsteward and roby can't do 80 mins)'" Sorry, don't agree with any of this post, that's just my opinion mind.
Me and my mate was talking at the match yesterday when Briers drew the fullback and gave the ball to Johnson for his try. We said imagine in the last minute of the semi final with the scores tied and we make a break. Imagins if it was Monas who had the ball and had to draw the fullback. Would you have any confidence in him whatsoever? I would expect an intercept and a defeat.
29 errors so far this season is absolutely shocking stuff from him, and he is still making them at 9. His error count is on track for being higher than the 33 last year.
Don't get me wrong, he has improved and is doing some good stuff, but he is still doing the stuff which makes you shake your head and wonder why the hell we persist with the bloke.

if you read my earlier post you will see that i think monaghan has a lot to offer going forwards but not a lot to offer when he is first receiver,clarkes defence and distribution helps the team settle into games,monaghan should be used latterly to make the yards out of acting half whilst we are without the option of higham.
i think he has made a lot of errors this year but on his day he is a very good player,we just need more of those days from him,it's a bit harsh to just do an error count on him when we have been making errors all over the pitch from 1 to 13 this year we have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous too often,hence our yo-yoing league position.

He got a dead leg at Huddersfield so I think the strap was a precaution more than anything. He looked like he was moving ok on Sunday and played the full 80. Pretty sure he'll play on Saturday, mainly as we've no one else. I'm told Clarke won't play at Leeds and might not make the semi final so the pivot trio Monas with Briers and Grix will be playing for the forseeable.

But you said that Clarke and Monas combined is the best hooker partnership in the league, so why now do you only have him covering for Higham?
IMO the error count is very relevant, as that is his main issue for me. You can't question his commitment in defence, despite the sometimes glaring missed tackles, a lot of his scooting from acting half is very good, some of his distribution from 9 can be good, but then he makes a load of errors! My main frustration is that some of the errors he makes are really poor - things like the offload on Sunday, which was schoolboy stuff, the intercepts that he throws on a semi regular basis.
If these mistakes had suddenly stopped now he was at 9, then we could put it down to him being out of position, but they haven't.

| Quote Dave T="Dave T"His defence, whilst good for a 7, is the least effective of our three hookers.
Monas' completion rate = 91.9% (417 tackles, 37 misses)
Higham's = 95.5% (467 tackles, 22 misses)
Clarke's = 93.8% (408 tackles, 27 misses)
He is better at 9, than he has ever been at 7 for us IMO, but he really isn't a top class hooker, and IMo he is 3rd choice for us.'"
If you get a chance, re-watch Sundays game... he ran the show... second half he was MOM by a country mile!
