| Quote: WireFanatic III "Why do we have to pander to the Australians all the time? Sick to death of it. Referee a game differently so as not to upset the little darlings, let's try and make a go of this tournament, just so there is the slight possibility that they MAY accept an invitation to the next tournament. Everyone walks on eggshells just to please them.
If they don't want to do another one, so what? **** them. I'd quite happily see a revamped Lancashire v Yorkshire or an end of season Exiles series instead of another WCC blow out should the Australians decide not to bother.'"
If the Aussies want to make this a regular thing, then GREAT.
BUT, (if the stories I've heard are true, sometimes they get twisted along the way) the Aussies were on a bit of a freebie....that MUST stop (if true).
These are competitive games for the teams involved, but we shouldn't be financially crippling ourselves, just to accommodate them for a fortnight, for two competitive games, then a Challenge match.
However, WFIII, (not having a go at you, directly) the LancsYorks, Exiles thing, leaves me colder than ice-cream. And attendances prove it.
We've done OK out of this weekend, as a club, and (bar Stains' nilling) as a competition

| I see no reason not to have a home nations tournament and a WCS too and a World Cup and Ashes tour of the Aussies want it.
If I understand it, it was them that didn't want the Ashes anymore.

| Fairly new to RL, first season actually, so have never seen the teams from NRL. But from first impressions there is a pretty big gulf between the two leagues.
why is this? Heard on the commentary at end of saints Sydney game that the wage cap may have something to do with it?
Have to say though I really enjoyed all three games, and if a similar comp is held over here I'll look to attend all games.

oh man you are childish... I understand that's a personal insult and I'm beyond caring you have single handedly ruined this board.
already in this thread you accused Asgardian of not understanding your view ("you cant fathom" i think you said) despite having many others agreeing with his post ( none agreed with yours )..but it wasnt your view so naturally [i he[/i didn't understand.......did he???
you even had the temerity to start an argument with him over the meaning of "Fathom"
you then argued with yourself that we all live in Lancashire.......get this ....no one cares.....
you knocked the credibilty of the format you definitely stated you were more interested in the Salford game than the St George game - which is fair enough by the way........if you didn't directly say your not interested you haven't made a single positive post related to the WSC.
then you said to me directly "read everyone elses posts only you don't get it" ???
The only posts i read where people have mentioned the lower positions of the NRL sides being the sole reason why we should beat them was you and St Pete on the Wigan forum I think, I haven't read anyone else say that. So I said it was ridiculous talk i didn't say you were ridiculous or you rubber duckie are talking ridiculous, its a general comment that i find that talk ridiculous.
love me youve even got a guy to apologise to you because he now thinks I called your personal post ridiculous
I dont believe you understand the clear arguments I made about the useless comparisons of last years league positions... I thought I made some fair points... the NRL is a good league. Hell James Graham said it was the most competative league in world sport I guess he would know....
if i don't understand what I'm saying get stuck in to my silly points rip them to bits ....come on....do it..... I should be easy meat the rest of the forum apparently agrees with you ? you'll have friends to help you.....
oh dont mention you're earlier post regarding the Charity shield result:
Champions South's vs rubbish 11th placed St George...... 12-12....
it kind of blows your league position guide to who must beat who completely the out of the water..........

Page 5, quote 7
" and hey, it's only a friendly" gives it away, eh?
We've had 3 games
One game, a lock out.
The other 2, at 80%ish capacity
We've had decent exposure (some good, some bad), with Sky's audiences watching 6 great teams.
We've had a Holywood "superstar" banging the drum for our sport
We'll have his entourage doing the same.
on the other side, we've got a miserable poster, dragging the competition down, since the day the Wire got involved....
I know which side I'm on

| Sigh. A once fun forum ruined by one motormouth ego. Is it any wonder so many old posters rarely bother with this site anymore? It's times like this I get nostalgic for Latchford Wolves Fan...

Many reasons. Cap is one thing, another is Rugby League is [iTHE[/i sport down under, they all play it from being babies and it's all about that, whereas here obviously Football is the go to and people join into League teams later on in years, some not until they reach high school. And then it can simply be that they're just a lot more naturally gifted in Australia. Some of them are just freaks. Discipline of the Aussies seems to be very high too.

| Just been listening to talksport sport and on the sports update every half hour, Lisa
Sullivan (news presenter) has reported the series as " a whitewash with saints not even
scoring a point" in a patronizing tone. While this is technically true, the tone by which she
reported it sounded like all the English teams were hammered. Anyway, I've just rung the
station up and complained and the guy I spoke to said he will speak to Lisa to address it
for the next bulletin! I'm just waiting now to hear.

I opened up this topic hoping to see some sensible debate but it is a joke.
On the world club series I think it has been excellent, gutted Saints didn't get close to Souths but they are a class above all NRL teams too so I wasn't too surprised.
This now needs to grow we dont need stupid knee jerk reactions we need to build slowly and raise the profile of this game with an expanded series.

| I enjoyed the games and the interesting thing for me in all three games were the performances from the younger English players.
However last night may have blown the future of the series out of the water. Sintellins were rank awful.
