| Quote: SaintStevo88 "Its been clear for a long time Gleeson always planned to move. I just can't seem to work out why to Wigan? Surely he would like to challenge for trophies, a return to Saints is probably firmly shut but Leeds could well be losing Lee Smith to Union, I surely thought Leeds would be in there along with the vast majority of NRL clubs. So one wonders why Wigan... ££££'"
Maybe he wants to end his career at a club that is his home town? It was strongly rumoured that he wanted to sign for Wigan after he had left Saints but because Saints didn't want to directly involve a move with Wigan they sold him to Warrington.

But also on our forum we have apparently signed Gleeson, SBW, Hunt, Lynch and Leuluai. And let go Goulding, Phelps, Smith, Bailey and Mathers. We was first told of the Gleeson rumour at the 21's game on Saturday but I'm still not believing anything until anythin official is announced.

| Ok so if his is a done deal, there must be good reasons that the club are willing to let Gleeson go and if this is on recommendation of Smith, the move has my backing.
Gleeson has openly stated he would like a move to Oz, that may not be on the cards so he needs a new challenge, we have had some good service and fairly average service from Gleese so now maybe the right time for the move.
Only going off the rumour mill if 2 players come our way and poss cash
We all know that Mathers hasn't been a success at Wigan but as a youngster we saw the potential in him but leeds wanted him to return earlier than planned. He then had a fairly successfuly time with Leeds. Mathers isn't the only player at Wigan who has failed look at the rep Fielden had and look at him now, a change of club for Fielden may also do him the world of good
I can't comment on Goulding as I not seen much of him
As our CEO has highlighetd on a few occasions we like many clubs are suffering under the recession so to recoup some money from Gleeson now before he is a free agent makes good financial sense.
Onlty time will tell I suppose

| If we recoup half of the initial £200k then we have had a good deal out of the old MG.
I didnt want this to begin with (him going), but if this is true afterall, i'll be quite glad he's gone. He's a great player, but never really wanted to play for Warrington and I think that has shone through, particularly in the last year.
ALSO... Reardon [sizeMAY[/sizeget sacked if found guilty too, so I should imagine if both happen we will have a large chunk of capital remaining for TS.

| Martin Gleeson was our only real attacking threat in my opinion, his footwork and strength in tight spaces was impressive.
Tony Smith is obviously using this season as part of the rebuilding phase because by getting rid of our best player when the season has only just started says to me the restructuring of the 1st team has officially started.
He wouldn`t have done that if he thought this current squad had any realistic chances in the play-offs as you don`t get rid of your best strike weapon, any faint hopes that people may have had of wembley can also be waved goodbye once Gleeson officially leaves.

I wouldnt go as far to say our best player, martin gleeson is a great attacking threat, great footwork, great step.
I still remember the press confrence when we first sighned him how unimpressed with the whole thing he looked, like he just didnt want to be here......................but he still went on to have 4 great seasons with us and his many assists and trys prove this..

And the future is bright at the DW Stadium and he want's to be part of it.
Plus he won't have to travel as far for training in the morning when he has a hangover....
