Quote: morrisseyisawire "Interestingly, there's an almost identical thread going on over at Hull FC forum and you can bet your life mumblings of discontent will be surfacing soon at Salford.

Hull are virtually a carbon copy of us, of course. Wealthy owner, couple of CC wins, nice stadium, huge potential in the squad but still not taking the next step.

Maybe the world is less forgiving, maybe social media allows people to vent thoughts they previously kept hidden, maybe it's the English disease or maybe there's a lot of rubbish coaches about.'"

It's all to do with expectations. Hull & Warrington supporters have relatively high expectations of pushing Saints & Wigan this year. This increases the pressure & the discontent. However I doubt if many realistic Salford fans will be expecting too much this year.

When Wire were bang average there wouldn't have been anywhere near the fuss at losing at Wakefield and struggling to beat Toronto. Winning the Challenge Cup & finishing 4th in the League would be a call for a knighthood for the Coach.

I remember when we were bang average there being a sit in after losing to Huddersfield and when we lost to Widnes people went and confronted Matt Rodwell in front of his family in the car park.

Quote: Clearwing "Week before he was moaning about Kev Brown's head butt target (forget who it was now) feigning injury. He seems under pressure, wonder if the threat to players' livelihoods is more of a financial than an officiating thing.'"

His remarks were definitely aimed at officials making wrong decisions that could lead to a clubs relegation. Nothing mentioned about Salford's financial situation.

Robust punditry, a robust stomach was required to enter those bogs in the first place!

Yes the newer generation of Wire fans think they've got something to complain about with not winning Grand Finals, at least they don't have to worry about what shoes to wear for the match because the soles were going to stink of urine for the next 3 days after paddling about in the Fletcher Street gents.

Then in the early 2000s they started giving out those player cards which compounded the problem as all the drains were blocked up with people peeing on Steve McCurrie, Dean Busby or whoever.

It's the manner in which you win. It's all very well and good scraping a win and saying people need to lighten up we got the 2 points and that's all that matters but its not.

another team would have beaten us and we're very lucky Toronto didn't. It was too close after a good first half.

Yes we got the win but in the real world, playing like we did will see us drop more points than we pick up and that's a fact. After a big win Vs Saints and then to back it up with a loss to Wakey and a scrappy win against Toronto is not good enough.

We took the 2 points twice to try and win the game against a team of rejects and championship players. That is absolutely shocking for a team that includes 9 current and ex England internationals, 4 England Kinghts, 1 former England RU International and 2 Tongan Internationals. Absolutely shocking and shows us exactly where we are as far as our attack is being coached.

Yes getting the Win is good but that's short term. looking at the long term this team needs a rocket up its backside or we'll be walking away with nothing (again) this season.

Can you remember any of the names of those involved in the "confrontation of Rodwell".
Do you recognise these names cropping up time & time again on this forum? Were "Karetaker", "Wires71" and the wonderfully named "Moving On" enjoying a "Sit in" ... back in the day?

The game to which SC refers resulted in a throng of about 50-100 fans gathered around the players entrance after the game angrily chanting "if you want our money show your face" directed to the board. The fans demanded action and were livid. We had just lost 7 from 8 at the start of the season.

However the game was against London on 30th April 2002, a Friday night, a game we lost 14-28. We were sitting 12th in the league.

Following that game Plange was appointed and we won against the odds at Hull 19-16 which was our last game at the Boulevard. People forget that it was actually that period under Plange that contributed to our SL survival. And, of course as you will know, this forum did not exist then as we used Wolfweb on which I was a member with the same moniker.

I attended both those games. I did not witness the Rodwell incident.

I was also there for the Castleford game monday night "sit in" 26/5/2008 Round 15 where we managed to lose 28-36 after being 12 points ahead with 20 minutes to go. Interestingly we lost 16-2 to Wakefield a few weeks prior.

I watched Warrington avidly at home and most aways games from about 1978 to 2010, so I am bound to have been at the eventful games.

Yeah but we won a challenge cup mate so it's all good you should be happy just because if that it's more than we had won for the previous 20 odd years so we have no real reason to be unhappy at the below standard performances we put in weeknin week out aside from "the big games" in which the players put a tad more effort in m. You can rest assured against Leeds we will see similar performance as we did against Wigan and saints yet complete mediocracy against wakey Salford and Co. Poor team attitude is our downfall more than ability

Quote: Smiffy27 "It is sad. But it's a problem with forums.
In real life if someone keeps being negative and boring in a bar you just ignore them and shuffle round to talk to someone else. But on a forum ... never played, never coached, not a clue ... but here is my opinion ... Herbert Thringblatt is useless and Jimmy Jimmyjams ought to be in charge.'"

Of course you have the option to "ignore" posters within a forum so you never need to read them again. They would probably prefer that to being insulted, derided and ridiculed for expressing a view. You can also make your point without personal insults or slurs on peoples character especially when you consider you do not know the people involved.

Furthermore how do you know those people to which you refer, but do not have the decency to name, have never played Rugby League?

In closing the irony of moaning about moaning is not lost.

Stop being so negative. We have a wonderful coach who has delivered a Challenge Cup win and we are learning all the time. The problems we have just require a quick fix. Our form is just a blip. Keep the faith. WTID.

Not like you to be factually incorrect SC. Did you attend the London game on the Monday night in question?

It would help moderate the tone if the phase 'Happy Clappers' were banned by the mods.

Those of us who don't bitch about every single performance are not 'happy', we're just looking at the bigger picture. No club, no matter how rich or well resourced, has a right to win SL, there are simply too many variables. We should be doing all we can to win SL, and I think we are. If Steve Price proves incapable of winning it, the board will replace him. However, this season we have played four games, looked very good in two, poor in one and bang average in the fourth. That is not sackable form.

Messrs Moran and Middleton are not going to accept season-after-season without the SL trophy, but they can't guarantee a winning side no matter what they spend, and it is absolutely fair to point out that adopting an 'anyone is better than Price' stance on the coach is clearly nonsense. In fact, you could argue that is how we got Steve Price, because 'anyone was better than Tony Smith'.
