The “if” is doing some really heavy lifting my petit canard.

Absolutely.
The effort required and scenarios to make the 6, is not less of a feat than winning SL from 6th. From 6th you are no longer reliant on the fate of results outside your control, in addition to having to win every game.

| True duckie but even if you start from the assumption of us being 6th and in the playoffs, the probability of us winning every game against top teams is very small.

| Quote Peckerwood="Peckerwood"What if, indeed, this did happen (or attempts were made) but the coaching staff either refused citing it was DP’s way or the highway, or the response wasn’t to the player’s satisfaction?
This is all hearsay. All that matters in professional sport is results. Since coming in, DP has taken us from third from top to third from bottom*. Those calling for his sacking/resignation might subside for now, but it’s clear his and KP’s management of the playing staff this season has been disgraceful.'"
Just to debate your post - maybe it was due time for the coaches way or the highway? Perhaps this turbulence was unavoidable?
Maybe if the coach had come into an elite squad of proven winners decorated with GF winners rings it would be a different approach. The players had years doing things "their way" (i.e) in the playoffs but ultimately not troubling the title).
Next season will reveal all.

| Perhaps we ,the fans ,have been only too happy to point a finger at the officials for our defeats ,although there have been some dodgy decisions in our games.

| I bought a cheapo ticket for me and me littlun last Thursday and noticed something really odd....waiting for the conversion after Toulouse's (I think) second try, the team was stood behind the goal line and not a word was being said. By anyone. Nobody getting the team round and saying, "lads we've got to fix xxx and look out for yyy, we need to move up quicker on zzz and put more pressure on WHY"....I am struggling to see us as a team yet, just a collection of individuals who have yet to gel into a cohesive unit behind a recognised leader. Not sure we'll get very far next year without this happening....maybe a preseason together will help, but I can't see much hope for the rest ofthis season

Nobody speaks after we concede. Jack Hughes never did and ratchford just stares into space with his hands on his hips. Hopefully Powell sees sense and makes either Vaughan or mcguire captain. My preference would be for mcguire, he would thrive in that role.

| You’d hope Powell sees a captain in Vaughan or McGuire. Ratchford can’t continue as a captain next season….as for me he should be bench at best and offers nothing as a leader, quite the opposite. Hopefully Vaughan offers us a Morley type figure of being a huge presence, intimidating and a leader. I think that’s what he’s being brought over to do.

| If he shapes up and lives up to expectation in the last few games of this season, how about Dufty? Would send a serious message about meritocracy instead of past reputation....
