I don’t know what that is so I’m assuming it doesn’t figure large in the national consciousness.

Well, its the neighbourhood weekender music festival that was held for the first time this year in Victoria park. Promoted by by one Simon Moran, i think the date has been in place since june.

It's a Music festival held at Victoria Park, Warrington. Headlined last year by Noel Gallagher, The Courteeners, Jake Bugg, The Pidgeon Detectives, Kodaline and The blossoms.

Headlined this year by Richard Ashcroft, George Ezra, The Vaccines, The Charlatans, Gerry Cinnamon and Primal Scream.

SJM saw the potential for an indie music festival whereas most others are pop and dance and DJ events.

Got some big plaudits this year. I can see this becoming a massive festival.

Might be big deal in Warrington, but I don’t understand it’s relevance to MW, wouldn’t the clash exist wherever it was played?

Seems like typical short-sighted decision (presumably Anfield/LFC bid the most) by the RFL. If you want to put it in RL heartland do it properly and put somewhere like Leeds or even back at the Council House (City) - that way it is easy for most fans to get to and you make no attempt to really grow the audience.

If you want to take a risk and try to grow the audience then why not London - perfect timing with Broncos being promoted back to SL - lots of ex-pat Aussies/Kiwis etc but needs a lot of promotion.

The move alone has generated a large amount of publicity. Liverpool has excellent transport links and can attract new fans. I know of a number of football fans who attended the Test match at Anfield as their first rl match. Building on that awareness makes sense.
