| It was obvious (to me at any rate) that things were happening in the background. Where I think the club has fallen down slightly this time around is that they haven't given enough assurance that things WERE happening behind the scenes. It didn't need names or quality of player, just that negotiations were on going with x amount of players, we will be releasing details in the next x weeks.
Clubs have the right to keep things close to their chests, but with no coach and 10 players leaving i think the club could have done better in keeping spirits up. Fan communication is important - KF learning point.
That said if Roberts and BMM are announced in the next week or so, I'll be a very happy boy.
I too want to be entertained, as do most SL fans, take note clubs.

| I don't think anyone expects the club to spew info like a 15 year old's Instagram feed (I was talking to Ben and really excited but then I find out he was using me and chose that bitch Saints over me sad emoji)
However I've just skimmed though the club's recent statements on our website and there isn't anything mentioning that we're looking for a new coach.
So even though we have some super sleuths and people in the know on here, OFFICIALLY, Agar is our coach next season, and that's the problem.

| The club have an appalling rapport with social media and given that SM is in the promotions business you would think that his business interests would be right on top of it. Doesn't take much to give the responsibility to one of the bright young things to update the social media feeds.

| Ingrained negativity for a lot on here is a difficult addiction to control.
I'd agree that what I want from the Club as an arm round me.
There should be a statement from someone senior that they are aware of the fans frustration this year and the increasing concerns about the insecurity of the coaching set up and the squad. However the 2018 season is being addresses and exploring a number of options to deliver a stronger squad than last year.
It's like having an examination and waiting for the results. The not knowing causes more stress and bad feeling than it would if we were told some news on a regular basis. The soundbites from the board promising better communication and exploiting social media simply isn't true.

Was it "negativity" to comment on our woeful performances, recruitment, league position, post match press conference nonsense - or was it reality and accurate prediction? We were not given a lot to be joyful about and to be fair this is a Warrington Rugby League forum. Be a bit boring if every post started "everything is awesome". No, the realists called it back in March 2017, just took the forum rump to catch up over 6 months.
In terms of 2018 positivity I think you will find a number of those criticising the car crash as it unfurled in 2017 (the addicted negative lot) are actually quite appreciate of the steps the club are now making post TS exit.

A source close to the club said an English coach had also been offered the job, wouldn't say who but you never know .Perhaps they are waiting until after the Grand Final to make an announcement, could shock us all.

| He probably means you for saying I told you so about calling out problems early on last season when others (like me) were saying we won the LLS and made 2 finals in 2016 so lets not get ahead of ourselves.
But I agree with what you say above this is a Warrington rl forum and it would be boring if everyone agreed. I think a lot of people on here take this forum and themselves too seriously. All it is is an exchange of views from people that support the same team. I'm interested to read peoples views and I'm not bothered about being right or proved right, my views shift over time. Over the years I've dipped in and out of this forum and the old WolfWeb site I've done a few U-turns that I can remember. I've been a big fan of Briers for about a decade or so, but in his early years I thought he was overrated and I bet if I could dig out some of my posts in the early 2000s I was saying stuff like he's unreliable, ship him out and bring in someone like Dunemann from Halifax. When Steve Anderson arrived I bought in to his reputation and his talk, flat pass rugby, Rodwell seemed a decent signing and great leader, others who had more experience of watching Wire had their cynic warning radar flashing through that off season when I was saying how excited I was....soon changed my tune on that one! And I was an unapologetic Cullenite for his first few seasons right until that time we got knocked out of the Cup at Hull KR and I realised then were were stagnating, and I moved in to the Cullen out brigade for the last 2 years of his time.
I'm still an unapologetic Smithite though, I still think he's the best coach that we could have had and if we appoint Steve Price I will take some convincing that we wouldn't have been better off with Smith. Although I am not blind to his faults, recruitment was poor under TS for a number of years now.

| Completely agree - it's about exchange of views in a respectful way. In the main I think we do that on this forum. I do suspect some personal vendetta's going on, but that's just a reflection of the limitation and defect of some peoples character.
You are right, this is a throwaway RL forum board not a written submission to the High Court and as for those so offended they announce loudly that they are staying away, that's a weakness they cannot tolerate people holding different views from themselves.
This forum should be a broad church with a kaleidoscope of views encouraged from people of all walks of life. Inclusion, not exclusion.
There's a saying that is quite apt "Instead of bitching about the dark, light a candle".

| This is a thread about what we want from the club, i.e. forward looking. There are plenty of threads about "where it all went wrong" and "wasn't I clever for saying Smith should go" where the past can be re hashed ad infinitum.
