GOB sold one of the worlds best fullback's an outrageous dummy on Friday, running 40m to score.

The 40/20 and the drop goal decider last week against Hull.

His vision straight from the kickoff in one of our friendlys to put Penny away from our own half.

His solo effort last year against Wigan.

I don't know what more he can do.

Fwiw I think our kicking this season has improved, we've turned the opposition around a good few times this year but still not every kick was perfect, just like most teams.

Some of St G's kicks on Friday were diabolical but we aren't mentioning those ones are we? Just like we aren't mentioning the kicks we did that turned their fb and wingers around.

Same old story I'm afraid. We lose a game and the doom brigade roll out suggesting we chop and change a strong side and bring in someone new to plug a nonexistent gap.

Briers was brilliant for us and I love the guy, but a brilliant 6 hasn't won us the GF has it? Defence and a strong front row wins silverware.

We wrap up our sloppy errors and unnecessary offload attempts and we're golden.

Don't get me on Briers vw.

I'm not knocking GOB. I want him to improve on areas. He puts in great kicks in play but his bombs are little more than an up and under.

He ought to be trying to put snow on every bomb.

O'Brien is a talent and is developing we will see the best of him as the team improves overall, Myler I believe plays as TS wants him to play but that alone may not be enough, he did nothing wrong on Friday but as others have said he needs to kick on, in general I was more concerned about our line speed at times but that is a team matter not just individuals.

O'Brien I believe will see out his potential.

I didn't see anything wrong with his bombs on Friday either!! They were just well diffused by a good side

Quote: Paul Youane "Did GOB not put enough height into his 40m winning drop goal at Hull?'"

As I said in my message, after the game. He would have scored the goal if he was on the halfway line, given the height above the cross bar, as the ball went over.

With regards to our halfbacks, O`Brien, is easily our best kicker. Ratchford & Bridge can both kick, but are hit & miss. Ratchford should be left at fullback, where his ability can be maximised, with the extra room he has got there.

There is possibly a case (In the future), for Bridge to be selected at half to complement O`Brien......However, we are currently undefeated in the league.

We have just lost a very close game to a team with WORLD class halfbacks. If Joel had scored the 2 trys that he missed, then the game would probably have been ours.

In past seasons he would have bagged both of those, & all the doom merchants on here would have been celebrating the win.

I'm not doom mongering imo.
My opinion on Myler has been consistent since he came.
He fitted a role benefiting from Briers on the left and Bridge was technically his go to man if Lee ran a play other than kicking to the corner for Joel or Hicks.
Bridge was in practice the the stand off in a right centre position and Briers a scrum half.

A positional understanding betwen them something like Sean Long and Jamie Lyons had.

End of the day, the hb's performances did not lead to us losing. What cost us the game was unnecessary mistakes; knock ons and silly offloads. We got punished by a quality side. Against Salford and FC we could afford to make those mistakes.

Please remember that we're only 2 SL games into the season.

Myler has a decent short kicking game, anything from the oppositions 30 back to our in goal and i worry about it.
GOB is 'almost' there, he just has a little something missing, not sure what it is but we really need to persevere with him as he needs the experience similar to an early career Briers.

Gareth O'Brien has come on leaps and bounds since middle of last season, starting to gain more confidence each week and his defensive game has improved massively, referring to him as GOB is a tad pathetic though, along the lines of Micky Mac, Sam and KC.

Lets pretend GOB is an expensive Aussie - that will improve his game no end. Whatever some of our home grown lads do, they will never be good enough for a lot of of our fans -

Chris Riley is a prime example - he was continually exposed defensively by Atkins positional play yet scored buckets of tries - still not good enough

GOB is doing a damn good job for us at the minute - he is as brave as they come, has a decent turn of speed, his offensive kicks do produce tries, his long kicking game is not that bad and he is a kicker of goals.

6 points between the teams on Friday - certainly not down to GOB, a few others need to look at their own decision making though

Agreed fully. GOB is one of our hottest properties right now and will only get better. The amount he's improved in the last 9 months proves that.

Hmm....

Quote: Galloping Ghost "How did ratch get his ankle rattled? Not seen again since, this looked quite bad in the ground, standing leg hit, was it intentional at all?'"
