Quote ninearches="ninearches"Would reinstating the tours have an effect on interest in the England set up, for instance if the Aussies came over & played against the club teams ,as in days of old, would it encourage spectators to go & watch international matches , seeing how the tourists had played against their clubs ?'"
yes and no.
club teams are more often stronger, better balanced and settled than the national teams.
the interest from species is high and this funded the touring team of old, 50/50 gates money, but.....
....the scenario that is faced, this gives the touring teams match fitness and a stronger testing before the international game.
Wheras the home nation doesn't play any team and history reminds us what's happens then!
a home nations side really needs to be playing the top six super league clubs, pre tournament less one or two players that may be from that club side their playing course.
It would season our home nations team and perhaps create a deeper national pride from the spectators?
