Hmm. Scrap what I just said then as that now rules me out of the Wakefield game as I'll be at work then. Ah well, I suppose I'd rather go V Widnes than V Wakefield so swings and roundabouts.

| Quote Dropkick Murphy="Dropkick Murphy"Well the fixture change means I can go so bicker all you want about the rights and wrongs, I'm happy with it. I won't be happy if we lose to either Wakefield (by resting players) or Widnes (by being knackered) as a result mind, or get fatigue related injuries against Widnes if we're in the Challenge Cup Final, but for now I'll see how it goes!
Mind you, Wire V Wakefield on Sunday, late shifts at work Monday and Tuesday, England V Scotland on Wednesday with overnight stay in London, Wire V Widnes on Thursday, late shift at work on Friday, Liverpool V Stoke on Saturday...
I might be collecting my bin bigs full of clothes from the driveway on the Saturday night and looking for a new place to live on Sunday.'"
Safe in the knowledge no doubt that your particular bin 'bigs' will be filled with the smartest clobber in Heald Green...Only joking DM, no I'm sure that they will be....

I'm not sure about that. Heald Green can be quite a well dressed place. It's hardly Warrington.

totally agree with you big dave 3..i remember sky doing an aftermatch interview with sir lee last season and was asked about the next match being a short period away..sir lees responce was thanks sky..so some players do take this on board..just look at the debate over the games at easter, this argument always crops up

| How did Wigan manage it in the late 80s/early 1990s when they were in all the finals and so the fixtures piled up at the end of the season? They would play 3 or 4 games a week for the last 5 weeks of the season and they would still pretty much win them all.
They weren't really resting big names either, you would get Hanley, Bell, Edwards, Botica and co playing all those games.
That was an incredible achievement which gets overlooked, when you think not only did they win all those trophies, but the physical efforts that it took from them to win game after game.
Of course I know you will get some saying the other teams were all amateurs in those days, their opposition was only guys like Davies, Bateman, Mackey etc but I reckon even against today's superior Super League elites they would have stood out peerless.

Fantastic achievement by Wigan. Reminds me of the time the Jamaicans won a gold medal at bobsleigh in the '88 winter olympics, I can still remember the film (Cool Running) they made about it. Some sporting achievements are just unbelievable and don't get the credit they deserve.

| I don't know how Wigan managed it. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that, for the most part, they were full time professionals playing against part time professionals. That and the fact that they had so much quality because they spent more than anyone else. So much so that they had to sell their ground and now live like some tramp in Dave Whelan's stadium shaped layby.

Who would have believed all them tries Brian Bevan scored.
Sometimes you don't ask the question if you can't deal with the answer.
