| Thought Carvell was the best forward in the pitch by some distance yesterday.
Obviously the backs get the credit for your great tries out wide but when that structure is in place the quick PTB from the tackle before that play by your props just left us not been able to number up right on the flanks.

| Quote: Saddened! "What are your thoughts on the crowd? The posh extension doesn't look like it will be used much. I was expecting a rise in Wire's crowds given the recent success in terms of trophies and the genuine hope of a League title for the first time in most supporter's lives, but bar the increase for the Saints game, it doesn't appear to be happening?'"
My answer Saddened, is that the ST numbers are up around 7% on last year, but I think travelling support is down due to fuel costs, the recession and an increasing trend for supporters to 'not travel'. I found your own attendances quite interesting when your new stadium was being built. Despite the fact that it was not far away, your own supporters didn't seem to turn up in large numbers IIRC.
Clubs such as Wigan, Leeds, Saints have had success over a long period of time and consequently their support has gradually built. Wire have only been really successful over the past few years so it will take time to fill the stadium I think.
Of course if Wire are successful, by definition it means that one of the other big clubs are not. In consequence their support will start to dribble away, just like happened to Bradford ( remember their 14,000 crowds when they were winning). That could easily happen to Leeds or Saints eh Saddened ?

| As pedantic this may sound, after a decent win, the consistently unerving facet of our play is the quality of our passes. The first half especially was really quite poor, I am not sure how much the wind impacted on this, but it seems we can't quite get to our attacking best and it is this reason I belive to be the root cause.

| think we play our best most attractive Rugby when we have Myler and Briers in the half back roles together.

Of course, it wasn't a criticism, more a question of your opinions about the seeming plateau in your crowds. The point about away crowd numbers in decline is a very valid one. At Saints we're mighty lucky we had this season at the new ground, I shudder to think what our average would have been at KR with the rugby we've been subjected to over the last few seasons. We're averaging 14,643 so far, with one of the two genuinely 'big' games to come (You lot), but it could easily have been half that at KR. It'll be mighty interesting to see how that holds up next season once the new pad novelty has worn off.

The attendance figures for Saints are excellent, clearly they like the ground and new facilities. From what I have seen of the 'back room', Wire work very hard to bring in revenue with promotions, events and merchandising. I suppose marketing is a big expertise area for Moran, so he brings a lot to the table as well as his money. And yet, the crowds are not exactly shooting up. I think from memory our average 2011 attendance is 3000 below yours for this year. So it's a concern.

| Surely the answer to this question is to attract other events to what we are told repeatedly on match days is a community stadium. There are some overheads that still have to be paid on an empty stadium so why not go for reserve football again or music concerts ,that is if they would be allowed there.

I would agree nine. To only use the stadium for 1 day every two weeks does seem very expensive waste of an asset. I am not sure what restrictions there are on ground usage though.
As an aside, I have just looked at our attendance figures for 2011 for the Leeds and Hull matches; this year they were down by 600 and 1500 respectively. That's not good.

To be fair, they're coming to terms with the fact that Gentle is just Agar with an Aussie twang.

Let's not forget that the stadium as a facility contains the NHS units, and also hospitality which is constantly bringing revenue in outside of match days. I'm sure there is some detail in the stadiums location which doesn't allow it to be used for music events. I'd hazard a guess that those Leeds and hull figures are almost entirely away fans missing.

I would agree with all of that, as I said in my earlier reply to Saddened. But it still means we have to run harder to just stand still with respect to our revenue. If we make it to Wembly of course, that would be a big earner, but everybody needs this recession to end ASAP. Warrington are a well managed club with good revenue, but I suspect there may well be another one or two Bradfords out there.

That's hit the nail right on the head. At the end of this season Hull will have yet another clear out, their sixth in six years. The fans are getting sick of it and long away trips are the first casualty.

They played better Rugby under Agar. Loved Gentle's comments on Super League Fulltime where
he blamed the ref for the 'atrocious ruck area' when his side spent most of their time holding down/hands on the ball to force the slow play the ball.

| Whats really annoying, looking in from the outside, is that you've got gentle now mentioning to the press about disruptive influences within the camp, not toeing the line and he needs to sort these individuals out.
McRae was saying the exact same thing about 10 years ago, over players that he brought in. Eventually Ryan and greenhill were shipped out, nothing appears to have changed, they've got westerman in with one of his drinking buddies in Liam Watts.
They're just not going to make the step up.
