| Phil Clarke, clearly the best troll of wire; good bait too, he manages to get an irate thread practically every week too.
It's really quite sad.

| The thing with Clarke is, when he isn't trying to put Warrington down and big up Wigan. I think he actually provides a decent amount of insight of the game. It is so blatant it does get annoying.

| Are you Pies thick or deliberately obtuse.
Eddie is a Wid....end of
He's shown huge leanings to Stains in the last decade or so, because GUESS WHAT, they were winning things, and playing great rugby
He's showing (some) leanings (but certainly not bias), to us now, because GUESS WHAT, we're now winning and playing great rugby. Commentators/'journalists' do that. They ingratiate (sp) themselves to teams/people who are having success. It's happening now at Man City. For 30 years, the 'gentlemen' of the press have stuck their collective knives into them. Now, they've won a cup and are playing some fantastic football, they've suddenly started to praise them. WHAT A SURPRISE.
I've known Hemmings (to talk to, and do, quite regularly) for about 7 or 8 years. His praise towards us (said to me) can be written on the back of a postage stamp. Infact, the last time we spoke, was the day before the Wigan game (3 weeks ago), when he said to me "Sam'll tear you lot apart, tomorrow"....now that's not someone who's biased towards Warrington, is it.
Back on thread, I don't mind Clarke at all. I think he's intelligent, articulate and is very knowledgable about our game. He just shows himself up with his (rather pathetic) attitude of "damn, someone's doing better than my beloved Wigan". It was almost like, at the end of the game on Friday, he couldn't wait to mention the cup game from a few weeks back. I was almost expecting him to say "Wigan annhiliated Warrington that day, SO NERR, NERR, NERR-NERR, NERR".
Yes, Sky do have people who show some leanings towards certain clubs. We have two, in Angela Powers and Paul Cullen, though their leanings are 'covered up', quite well. O'Connor and (to a certain extent) McDermott are ex-Wigan players who revel in all things Wigan. Stevo is pro all things Yorkshire. Martin Offiah loves Martin Offiah. Clarke, obviously loves all things Wigan, to the detriment of everyone else. It's quite sad, really.
The only one who I find totally unbiased is Carney.....fair play to the fella.
A slight aside, I thought McRea was very good on Friday. Normally, I've more time for Simon Cowell, but I thought he was very objective on Friday....no histrionics, just gave his views in a very balanced manner. Well done, fatso

| I think Barrie and Terry are quite fair to be honest. It's only Clarke that put's us down time and time again. End of the gaem Friday..
"Wigan came here 8 weeks ago and embarassed warrington Eddeh" said Clarke
"Wigan played great on the day and Warrington got back to within two points before a few late Wigan tries saw them home" which is what really happened.
Also forgot's these kinda stats "Did You know Eddeh, that in 160 mins of superleague rugby this season, Wigan have only managed to score 18 points against Warrington and have conceded a massive 63 points"

| Some of the paranioa on here, wow! If I were some of the posters on here I'd never fart incase I shat myself.
Clarke's comment at the end of our match friday referring to the CC quarter final was actually relevant. We've got massive momentum with us at the moment and our destiny is in our own hands. But on any given day, we're only human, and could cop a hiding ourselves like we did against Wigan if we don't keep our feet on the ground.
If it was Saints or Leeds that had beaten us in the cup, nobody would have cared. It's just selective hearing and if you actually listen to a lot of the things Phil Clarke says, he offers many compliments to our player's individually and as a team.
For some fans to start talking about petitions etc, do me a favour! You're embarrasing us all.

well extreme reactions require extreme measures at times !
Try replacing it with radio comentary
Better still, learn to control ones own anger and negativity, espescially during a performance and occasion like that.
The sky comentary team 'is what it is' - get over it !

Personally I don't have an issue, I quite like them. I just found your solution a bit strange.
Isn't there a delay of a few seconds, which can make it difficult to listen to radio commentary over Sky coverage?

| I quite like Clarkey myself, yep he is biased toward Wigan but then again he played in a dominant WIGAN team for a long time and was regarded as one of the top forwards of his time.
Think its kinda funny how much stick he gets from us on here and at the games.
His comments do sometimes grate but thats just cause of where he's from and he's proud of it I think.
Cullen as has been said already did the same the other day on BNA dont think he mentioned another clubs players in his dream team comments did he!!
Think everyone just needs to chill and enjoy the fact that we are TOP OF THE LEAGUE in 2011!!!

| I don't know where people keep getting this myth that Eddie is a Warrington fan. Yes, he lives in the town, but he's a St Helens fan.

| I saw on Twitter (don't know how true it is as I didn't hear it) that Clarke slipped up during the commentary of the Wigan v Saints game and came out with
Anyone else hear it? Is it true?

Fair do's - I don't have a problem either, just with the same old predictable narrow minded, subjective diatribe that tends to dominate these pages these days.
I couldn't make the hull away game so watched it in the red lion, stocky heath who had radio commentary on instead. seemed in time to me.....after 5-6 pints anyway

| I don't like the Phil Clarke-slating that goes on, but I must admit that today he was guilty of letting his Wigan bias get in the way of his analysis of the match.
Several times in the second half, he jumped all over Eddie and Stevo when they dared suggest that Wigan just weren't upto the job of turning round Saints' lead, even though to most impartial observers, Wigan were badly out of sorts and showing little creation.
It was more the desperation and panic in his voice that gave the game away, and, to be honest, sounded a little sad.
Overall. I don't mind the fellow....He's certainly a sane voice when compared to the nonsense that Eddie & Stevo often come up with, but he just needs to sometimes rein in his affection for Wigan.

| Eddie is a Widnes fan, I well remember a Sky game a good few years back, Widnes vs. Saints, where Eddie was up in arms about a 50/50 call went Saints' way (in fairness, there'd been a few on the trot), and he was quite upset about ... Clarke, Ironically, was telling Eddie to calm down and often "these things balance themselves out", not much later in the game, Widnes were on the receiving end of a highly questionable decision, and Clarke comments (while almost laughing his head off) "There you go Eddie, see? I told you" ... Hemmings himself was laughing in an almost embarrassed way.
I don't see that it's anything to be ashamed of, I don't even mind that Clarke shows a bias towards Wigan when commenting on their matches as such, after all he is a legend of that club from an era when they were completely dominant. What I do object to is when we're watching a game between other clubs and yet he often still manages to start talking about how great Wigan are ... yes it's true, but we're not watching Wigan! *sigh*.
