barnett wasn't taking anything illegal, I seem to recall some hormone level(i dunno) agreement/quota had been lowered from the year previously and he was only a smidge over that, it wasn't that he was taking any questionable substances. |

I'm not defending him but
He hasn't been tested positive for Cocaine, he has tested positive for Benzoylecgonine which is found in cocaine.
However upon doing a little research on the substance i came across this:
"Small amounts may be traced back to certain OTC (over the counter) medications, after having been metabolised in the liver".
"Benzoylecgonine is used as the main pharmaceutical ingredient in the prescription drug Esterom, a topical solution used for the relief of muscle pain".
So depending on how much substance has been found in the test then this could pose as a legitimate excuse.

If that were the case, and it is plausable, wouldn't Wigan or Hock come out and say we think it is potentially from the OTC drug or something similar.

They could and should have done, linking it to cocaine is easier because it's most commonly found in the said substance, I understand that all parties involved have to explore all avenues regarding the subject but what happened to innocent until proven guilty, he may have a very good excuse for it, like the one mentioned.
Everybody is already labeling him a bag head and such like before he's given his side of the story, this thread title is way off for a start. |
