you shouldnt knock Rugby union...... its funnier that one foot in the grave!

| I'd say it's a bit disrespectful.
Why don't you just ask him did he ever fancy playing RL and does he like / follow the game?

Quite right, mind you could be a laugh watching him pose the question, watching the heads in the room turn, his bowels go all loose, as he prays he doesn't meet Jeff in the car park afterwards.
He might have long finished his professional career.....but I wouldn't extract any urine from him.

| I palyed loads of Union, front row prop or hooker. It is an extremley hard physically demanding position to play. It is also completely different to a league front row poistion, the roles are not interchangeable.
Asking Probyn to play laegue front row would be as stupid as asking Morely to do the reverse.
For thise of us old enough to remember there have been a few union props who crossed over and were succesful. Mike Coleman as Salford was one a we had Bobby Wanbon and Brian Butler (he wasn't that good I suppose)

| This whole thread just highlights the absurdity of comparing League and Union.
Its like comparing Test cricket with 20/20 cricket....2 completely different versions of the same sport, but in both instances, you have either the pure version of the game, or the perceived 'entertainment' version of the game.
In reality, especially in the Cricket example, the entertainment version (20/20) is actually aimed at people who don't have the intellegence to absorb the technicalities of the sport.
P.S....What question did Mr Witless eventually ask???

| I wouldnt get my hoes up for this one!
I attended the NWC awards at Lanc CC years ago and Geoff Probyn was guest speaker. He got booed off halfway through a story about touring Argentina, I actually felt sorry for the guy, it was that bad!

| Sorry to dissapoint you, but the question and answer session was cancelled.
This was however a blessing in disguise - as Lymm Rookie alluded to earlier, we too were treated to Geoffs/Jeffs musings of a tour to Argentina, which was as about as entertaining as watching the preverbial paint dry.
And for those of you getting hot under the collar regarding my tongue in cheek suggestion for a question, I played over 350 games of Rugby Union at a pretty good standard. I have forgotton more than most people know about the differences between the two codes, and the different qualities that are required to play each game. I have played competitive Rugby Union against international players and I have also played Rugby Union at a lesser standard with many ex Rugby League players, including a sprinkling of Warrington "legends". .
They all have my respect, and I at least hope that I have theirs.

Sale Sharks up until last weekend were second in the GP - they also have the whole of the North West to draw on given that they are the only top level RU side in the area - yet their average gates for this season are lower than Warringtons - I don`t need to tell you where we sit in the current SL table ...
