Did we crumble under the pressure of playing Leigh in the league too?'"
I think he’s suggesting there is a nervous tension amongst the fans once things start going badly, not a belief we can turn it around if things start going wrong. Don’t think he was suggesting the supporters are to blame for team performances / results.

I agree there is a definite nervous tension in the crowd and lack of belief we can turn it round when we fall behind and play poorly. Coupled with frustration and exasperation. Usually for good reason.
Keen to explore the "pressure" issue as I don't believe that is all it is. The stakes were not high in the Leigh game and we stank the place out.

Nah, to be fair, I can see why anyone would suggest at least one of the leeds leaders during the golden generation (even if peacock was brought in) but most of their post playing careers so far have been rough, peacock at kr, Sinfield in his DOR post at leeds, he couldn't get out of their fast enough, jjb as an asset coach, mcguire was doing so so at kr, he's got a pretty good rep.
And kylie leuluai. Who I mentioned during last years show, who was specifically brought in as being able to teach our players about working in a professional high level team environment.
Maybe it's a sum of all the parts kinda thing.

Not much doubt that nervous tension & pressure doesn't help performance. Because we were making so many mistakes, v.Wigan, we tried to keep it simple but you can't do that for ever as time slips away. Making 17 mistakes was horrendous. I remember watching the Leeds game, at the start of the season & saying we haven't made an error yet & that was just before half time.
Leigh had Lachlan Lam on fire & we got behind so there was pressure but not so much as in a Cup Semis. I have never played in or coached a team that gets booed or has to cope with so much scrutiny on social media ... but it's unlikely to go away so they better learn to deal with it.

In actual fact we are not under that much pressure really. No one is realistically expecting us to win a GF any time soon and we haven't won the league in the vast majority of supporters lifetimes. Spectators have booed since the time of ancient Greece.
I think Saints, Wigan, and Leeds have more pressure to maintain their excellent standards, and perhaps more scrutiny due to their larger support base.
I believe the problems at our club are from within, not the terraces or Facebook.

Could be spot on here but the term "within" is very broad ... and our "fantastic fans" are a bit fairweather & crack under pressure too.

| Most fans are the same, I don't see ours as any more reactionary than Saints/Wigan's etc. Certainly not the former - maybe have a look at Redvee from Mar - May. Saints were booing their side earlier in the season - their team has not crumbled, it's done the exact opposite. As Wires71 said we don't have the pressure that those sides have - Saints/Wigan fans expect a trophy each season.
I also think our fans (most of them) are now very forgiving in terms of young players making mistakes etc as long as we see improvements in the general performances and maybe some obvious identity in the side.
All sides have a blip and it will be interesting to see how we respond for the rest of the season but if we continue on our current trajectory then I think we need to part ways with Powell. Should that happen it won't be the fault of the fans.

When we played behind closed doors in Covid we were still junk.

| Don't think this has been mentioned but in both home and last sundays game against Wigan why have we had two Wigan referees?
There's plenty to choose, quality limited but plenty of them.

Smiffy27 has a bit of a downer on the Warrington fan I reckon. I think deep down he thinks the Warrington fan in particular are part of the problem and if we (the collective Warrington fan) would only be a bit more positive on the terraces, stifle criticism and never show discontent then we would see a GF win.
Weird thing is the team always gets a rapturous applause when they enter the field and cheered when they do well. The fans buy beers, food, replica shirts, season tickets aplenty and support in numbers so I don't know exactly what they are doing wrong.

White paper in the house next week to discuss the banning of disgruntled fans.

| I don't buy the pressure theory. If that game was played in a field in outer Mongolia with no crowd or TV coverage it would have been the same.
There were a couple of alarming things though.
I did notice that some of the reactions of onlooking players when there was an error. For example Clark sort of threw his arms in the air when Lucas Green knocked on. Matautia does similar a couple of minutes after when Philbin drops his pass.
Also Powell's comments in the guardian regarding that play the ball states "we play the ball without looking". Now I thought that was Danny Walkers mistake but reading those comments appear to suggest the onus is on the person playing the ball to make sure everybody is ready.. maybe walker was looking round asking who is taking the first carry and nobody was putting their hand up.
Most of the errors just look like a lack of concentration. Not a great display of teamwork because there were a lot of players trying to solve the problems on their own. Looked like a lack of trust in each other
If there is a difference of opinion in the camp as to how the Mcguire situation has been handled then Powell has got his work cut out yet again to try and unite a divided team.
If that is the case then we should not let that incident define our season. What happened to McGuire is inevitable in elite sport. Sponsors like Hoover and Halliwell Jones would be asking some serious questions if we tried to keep him at the club. They would not want to be associated with anything like that.
This group of players need to pull together and as Cullen would say "circle the wagons" and give Castleford a right good hiding and start to recover the form of the first 6/7 weeks of the season.
