Isn't that the point though - that there is no concept of a someones predetermined place in the side. There are current occupants of a game day jersey which they earn on merit. Loose form and someone else will occupy it. I bet Price has his reasons.
Was it not players thinking they were/actually were undroppable that caused problems in the past?

There certainly was a perception amongst some that, historically, some players appeared undroppable, how true that was I am not sure. Was it related to the coaches view that despite the drop in form 'the player' was still better in the coaches eyes than any possible replacement?.
This season we have in my view the strongest overall squad for a good while so now hopefully we have quality backup so if anybody is either slightly crocked or suffers a drop in confidence / form we can address it without necessarily weakening the team too much.
Within reason, it up to a player to 'lose' his shirt

i agree, mamo keeps the shirt, and on top of that atkins can thank the gods of injury that godwin got crocked this week, as he would still be missing out otherwise.

| Aside from form, it's also worth considering the opposition man for man. Who will Lineham/Mamo be likely to oppose v Wigan. The Wigan wings are likely to be pacy, so do we match/surpass that with Mamo's pace; or do we use Lineham who is still pacy, but carries a power advantage?

The moving of the leg before pulling Bryson back, by the same player, looked very naughty.

| actually, slightly more important than the wingers discussion, does danny walker come back in or do we leave the bench as was, which wasn't half bad, save cas having 20 players out.

| You could swap out Tasi move up Westwood to start and bench Walker, but I’m not sure.
I’d be tempted to leave the bench as it was, as you say it was impressive vs Cas and Clark tends to play 70mins anyway if there is a hooker on the bench - a bit of a wasted spot I think when J Clark, Philbin, BMM and Westwood can do 40+ minutes each.
My only concern would be the workload being put on to Clark, I hope we take opportunities to rest him up through the year.

| If (god forbid) DC got injured, presumably Dec to dummy half Ratchford to the halves and a second row to the backs. But, that is very disruptive, alternatively a hooker on the bench. Glad I’m not a coach!

| I'd start with Westwood, Tasi on the bench. Looking forward to it.

| Nervous now. Funny how the marketing has turned what was potentially the most insignificant clash with the pies, into a big game. I do worry that we’ve been poking a wounded tiger all week and are about to feel the backlash. I really do hope I’m wrong, but what more motivation do they need to turn it around tonight? Let’s hope we’ve got enough to outsmart whatever tactics they go for. We’ve really got to sharpen up our penalties and rucks and play a sensible clean game. Hopefully we’ll have too much for them. NTW.

| My biggest concern is that between the Wigan propensity to "trap" a tackling player, and Charnleys new found enthusiasm for the same tactic we could have 2 players stuck together like mating alsations and the water carrier will have to throw a bucket of water over them to separate them.
