Total each side up and I bet that not one of them is significantly higher or lower than any other.....The Salary Cap accusation aimed at Wire is just jealously, pure and simple, based on the fact that we have a benefactor who is not afraid to spend cash in the transfer market, which, just to clear up, as balls all to do with the cap.'"
I've not suggested Warrington were over the cap. Just that it's very naive to assume all clubs do behave whiter than white.

I agree, but why do folk seem convinced that it is Wire breaking the rules and nobody else??
Look at Saints' squad.....The likes of Pryce, Wellens & Cunningham will be earning as much as anybody at Warrington for a start....Throw in your overseas players, who won't be on a pittance, and I'm pretty sure we could make a good case for you lot cheating the rules (again).

And Graham he will be a top earner at the club no doubt.

I personaly think think the cap should be upped , and let these lads who put there body on the line week in week out be paid what they are worth , the career is so short and are one bad tackle away from loseing there income , when you think how much footballers get , it makes me gringe, these lads are warriors , not just in sl but all leagues, some none league footballers are on more money than a lot of pro rugby players , pay the lads what there worth up the cap and let them all have a fair whack !

| Quote: SEB "Alot of pure fantasy in that post. I think you'll find it's much harder to "hide" extra payments and gifts than you think it is. Even small things such as a few quid raised by a raffle at a testimonial event get the taxman sniffing, so to think a club could easily hide several hundred thousand pounds is absurd. And I can assure you WWRLFC are not.'"
Out of interest, how would this scenario play out.
Matt King is a RL professional player and also a majority shareholder of an Australian Limited company (PTY). Said company company enters into a deal with SJM to provide promotional services for a range of concerts in return for a fee of £80K.
Matt King, in addition to his dividend income (taxed in Aus) from the above also takes a remuneration of £100K due to his UK employment with Warrington Wolves RLFC. This may indeed go through HMRC in the UK.
So long as Matt King accounts for his UK income and Australian income appropriately for tax purposes in each country I cannot, for the life of me, see what grounds the RFL would a) become aware of the SJM deal and b) what law/rule has been broken and c) what powers it would have to punish WWRLFC due to the business dealings of seperate legal entities d) how they would withstand the legal appeal against any possible salary cap punishment.

So are you happy to pay more at the turnstyles and increase your Sky subscription? The money has to come from somewhere and most pro RL clubs run at a loss.

| Saddened is right.
It is naive to assume that there was one club which dominated the SL era with attacking rugby that the other clubs couldn't match year after year, and was doing it all 'above board'. They thought they had that in the NRL until reality was revealed to them.
I expect major upheaval and re-writing of SL - and particularly Challenge Cup history - when the expose happens.

Based on the disclosure that would be made in the accounts relating to related party transaction under Financial Reporting Standard No8 and the Companies Act

So that would bind Simon Moran because he is majority shareholder of WWRLFC to disclose his interests in SJM?

I repeat again. I am not suggesting in anyway that you have gone over the cap.
The poster I replied to said you had not had players of good enough ability to go over the cap.
I responded by saying ability is completely different to the salaries Wire have been playing. In other words you have signed plenty of 5h1te on big salaries, regardless of ability. That can still be within 1.6 million.

Thank you.
I wasn't actually suggesting this season. I was talking past.
