| I leaned that Smith can create a defensive structure, it actually looked like we'd been coached BUT Johnson and Grix were not at the races and I'm not sure they will be good enough
I learned that Bridge is like a headless chicken much of the time and no-one really knows where he is going. He is not the answer. Does he ever look before he kicks; wide open field, fast winger but kicks the other way every time!!!!!!
Regretfully I concede that Monas is not the answer in attack and has to defend too much for a small half back. For a good team you need at least one great half back. We haven't got one
Penny & King looked very good in defence but didn't get enough attacking chances
I learned that anyone who picks the MOM must be watching a different game to me, get the Andersons to Japan asap as per the League Express story
Too many people leaving early and booing, its frustrating watching Wire, stick with it

| Quote: Ian [77] ""I think they were tested. On a number of occasions Cas went down that side and, on at least 2 occasions, King and Penny did a great job on plugging in gaps as part of a successful scramble defence. Penny got minimal touches but it's unfair to refer to King in that context. It's not as if King got lots of ball and refused to pass to him.
I'm enjoying watching King's confidence improve and his performances accordingly. I always enjoyed Penny's enuthasism for his team mates.'"
They did do alright once or twice but I did see signs of the old King goes wandering Penny is left 3 on 1 which if noted by the opposition could have been disastrous.
I just can't help thinking that Cas weren't aware Penny was going to play (neither was I) but if they were they would've peppered him and it would've been a whole lot worse.
However, I finally saw the sliding defence creeping in in that first half, so hopefully Smith is concentrating on defence for now and those individual errors will be cancelled out by the lovely attacking rugby we're gonna learn soon.
Whatever happens, I just want to see a planned move that actually works.

| A couple of positional changes IMO will make a big difference.
Move Hicks from fb back to the wing. With Riley at FB, we return the kick at a much higher pace, and often start a set of six on a high. Under Hicks, we allow their defence to gt up in his face and get set.
This will allow Johnson at 3, and then suddenly our three quarters look a little more dangerous - Hicks, Johnson, King and Penny. There is some pace and strength in that.
Halves. Now this is a big issue, but I would take Monas out whether Briers is fit or not. Grix could cover there with Bridge, as I think Grix is being wasted at the moment. He can;t do any worse IMO at 6/7.
I would leave the forwards as they are.

I Agree about trying Grix at halves Dave, but I would not drop Monas. I would have him interchanging with Higham instead of Clarke.

Monas does already slip into the 9 spot at times now, and he is still poor IMO. His decision making on the 2nd phase of play is shocking.
He never knows whether to put his head down and run, or throw a long pass and get the ball moving.
Monas and Higham are too similar in style for me to use them both, and Higham defo gets the nod over Monas at 9.

| i quite enoyed watching cas attack, whereas warrington had perhaps a couple of little plays between 2 or 3 players that came off in isolated parts of the game, cas were attacking with all their players working on and off the ball and had a brilliant shape to them
also thought cas had a great defence, which is perhaps why warrington's attack, in my opinion, was absolutely awful, although i don't think we gave them a particularly stern test
our defence was haphazard, which got lucky at times but more often than not was, again in my opinion, poor
to be fair i thought cas looked like a really good team and there is no shame in being beaten by them (questionable though at home), but i thought warrington were absolutely miles behind them and was gutted when i left, not because of scoreline but because of how dire i thought we were
i do however have total faith in the manager to turn us around and also in most of the players who are already in the squad to get back to good performances
i reckon our fans need to forget about where we think we should be and get ready to travel a long road to challenging mid-table and then on towards the top after that

Certainly was 'urban.' And by 'urban', I mean a bit rubbish. I wasn't quite as vocal about it as the old fart stood next to me. 'It's just noise, that!'

| Things confirmed today:
At the current rate of improvement (and I accept he's been unlucly with injuries), Bridge will never be the top class half back we need. I still like him as a player and would keep him as a support role.
Hicks at fulback doesn't work. The ball has to be almost stationary before he picks it up and he doesn't even look to beat the first man - just run into him and keep it safe seems to be his only option. Get him on the wing.
Monagan tries so much but he's not performed like a half back I don't know why. He has a great workrate (yesterday kicked deep and made four of the next five tackles).
If we're going to play Kevin Penny - give him the ball somewhere outside our own 20 metre line.
Almost every fan appreciated the effort put in particularly in the first half. A few people booed - not in any way representative of the fan base.
We are where we deserve to be in the league table. A less than average team.
Even when we get soundly beaten - I'm still glad we've been.

your kidding......??
in the first half they played the most boring five drives and a kick rugby as Ive ever seen in a long time...
one piece of poor defending by Johnson resulted in their only score.
second half they got slightly more adventurous on the fourth tackle and shiping it wide they scored three more "soft" tries and then the final one was down to a very tired mis-tackle from Rauhihi....
they were nothing special at all yet put 28 points on us.
and for our attack we couldnt deal with their Lying on, which I thought was ridiculous at times, and how Terry Matterson has the cheek to have a go at Huddersfield I dont know....!!!
The Cas slowing of the play the ball was worse than the time we played the Calatalans when they had 3 binned for it.....
did we have anyone in Gansons ear telling him the error of his ways.....I'm certain Briers (and any other Captain worth his salt) would have been on at him...
