Yes, correct.

really
thats a strange phnomnom
home grown even though he is from NZ
so if we did buy him when he was 17 would he be eligible for england?

Possibly, but not because he's classed as "home grown" for these purposes.

Indeed. The criteria for these rules are not the same as for international elgibility. That's a whole different can of worms.

| Quote: SEB "SUPER LEAGUE CLUBS AGREE EXTENSIONTo take advantage of the extension of the exemption a player must apply to the RFL to be ‘federation trained’ at the end of their current contract. They also must have registered with the RFL prior to 1 February 2008, the date when the club trained rules were introduced.
Their status as a federation trained will then apply throughout their career, even if they move clubs in the future.'"
hmm, it would appear we no longer have [iany [/i"overseas" players!

hmmm, thinking about this again, one way to read it is to assume the only overseas players a club has is the ones it signs after February 2008. Although it maybe that the above only applies to "overseas trained" players and not "overseas quota". But it doesn't clarify that, plus it seems players can only be exempted on expiry of their current contract.
So, in summary, clear as mud!

| I think we need to see some big performances then from a lot of players to try and win a contract.... But then if we award the contracts do they go back to thier usual ways ie Jon Clarke.

| Looking at that squad list and seeing that both Anderson brothers are out of contract at the end of nextyear wouldn't it be great if Grix, Mitchell, Blythe and Harrison could continue to kick on and take these two players places in the back row. I think these 4 players have the potential to offer as much as the Andersons do and it would be a brave and worthwhile decision to back the homegrown talent for the future.
We would also save a considerable chunk of the salary cap which could be spent on a combination of improved contracts for these homegrown players and new signings.

I'd get rid of Grix. Jack of all trades, master of none.

| Woah, hang on! Grix has been outstanding this year at centre.
Real shame he got injured.
Definitely one for the future!

| Ok, maybe not 'one for the future' but he's not exaclty old (24/25 nearly)
If he can get fit and stay fit he's definitely a good player to have

my point was, that he posted that before grix had that stellar 8 week spell where he was pretty much our best player.
