That wouldn’t upset me if that happened,I’d say is days here are pretty much done now.

| Both trade papers reporting Russell to Salford with the Wire paying part of his salary.

If that’s the case it would suggest we have someone lined up to come in wouldn’t it? Any contribution we make to Russell’s salary would be outside of the cap, but us paying some of his wages would certainly encourage a move for a club in Salfords situation.
Frees up some cap space for us - for what position?

| Dunno how you can see it that way.
I see it as we needed Matty gone to get Charnley in.

I don't know about the mechanics of how the cap works and can be adjusted when moving players on particularly if we are still responsible for part of the salary going forward.
However, I'd agree with you that you'd think that getting Russell away was part of the process of getting Charnley in. I don't think that there's suddenly a pot of money for someone else

| Are we still a bit light in the prop department? What’s the cover if one of our big guys gets injured? Is Pat Moran still in the picture?

| A good back up hooker would be top of my list or a utility half back/hooker unless Dec Patton is pencilled in for the job if Clark get injured.

Didn't Hughes step in there recently for a short spell during a game? Or did I imagine that?

| I'm not claiming any expertise when it comes to the rules of the salary cap but my lay-man's understanding is;
A player's salary is counted towards the cap value for the club with whom that player is registered, regardless of where the money is coming from. If Russell were to transfer to Salford then his whole salary (presumably with some adjustment because we are 2 months into the season) goes towards the Salford cap, even if we are subsidising them.
The amount that Warrington are paying towards his salary could be classed as income to Salford and therefore could be used to increase their total cap level which is, presumably, below the maximum.
I've no idea whether Russell's move was a necessary part of the Charnley deal but, if we have funds available, I believe that we still need a hooker, ideally someone who could also play at 13. Clark and Westwood are both going well but last season they missed 7 games each due to injury plus Clark missed a further 2 due to suspension and Benny 7. Clark was definitely playing injured towards the back end of the season.

| I thought Morgan Smith was pretty useful last year. He's a good passer of a ball and I thought he helped us to move the ball out wide when he played.
We definitely are short of numbers in the forwards. I've not see Moran/Luis Johnson so I'd be interested to hear from those who have seen them in action ... could they step up?

We can’t pay Russell off without it counting on the cap, if we needed to move Russell on to accommodate Charnley the move would have already happened as the cap is ‘live’ so we can’t have both players registered at the same time. If we had already let Russell move to another club why wouldn’t the other club have announced it and played him during a busy Easter period? Unless the club have been given a special dispensation from the RFL, which would seem unlikely.
I have no doubts we want to offload Russell now that Charnley is here, but in my view that’s because we already have 3 wingers in the squad and Price thinks 4 is too many.

| One of the articles also mentioned Tyler Prell maybe looking to move on,then again it was Nosey Parker. Apparently not happy getting no game time I think it said.
