Feel sorry for Bradford and Leigh in a couple of days as he seems to be refereeing their game. A top of the table clash in the Championship, and the best appointment they can come up with is James Child.

Not seeing any mention of Penny's try being wrongfully awarded despite blatant failure to clear the ruck and Penny being several yards offside!

Watch the game back, Child did ok. There were a couple of poor calls, but nothing major. The result last night certainly wasn't influenced by Child!

Nobody to blame except Walsh for that, he had access to the ball and was milking the penalty. If he'd just got on with it instead of relying on Child for your field position Penny might not have scored.

Where has anyone said the result was directly influenced by Child? All I can see is warranted criticism of his performance.
I don't know about you but I go to matches to watch RL not to see some jumped up official blowing his whistle every 5 mins trying to get on TV.

If you read my opening post I never said the result was influenced by him. My whole post was to set out that as a spectators in the crowd he appeared to be out of his depth and was giving pens that no one understood.

On that - Atkins's try / No try. If he knocked on / lost the ball then its Saints ball.
If its knocked out of his hand then its a penalty try
If the saints player grounded it, its a goal line drop out.

Can someone explain how we were awarded a penalty on the 10m line?

Drivel ref (for both sides). The inconsistency in refereeing is so blatant, even Stevie Wonder could see it

Video ref gave the penalty for a ball steal in a two man tackle. Percival (i think) was underneath Atkins so a penalty try couldn't have been given as it wasn't clear he'd have grounded the ball anyway. 10m back as the penalty was over the try line.

Very good post CommanderShepard. The officials in the Championship are very poor, and then they give the two top sides in the Championship James Child , who really doesn't have a clue how to control a game. I hope my money isn't wasted when i attend on Sunday.
