Hopefully it can kick on to a full blown mini series where teams from both hemispheres are fighting to get in it and rewarded as such'" ]
Totally agree would be great to see an international mini series started even if it's played in the off season. I'm thinking it would be between both grand finalists and domestic cup winners both sides of the hemisphere. Like a mini champions league.

One thing is essential for mine and that is that there should be no 'misunderstanding' about who qualifies at the outset. It takes away any snipping particularly in our case that we weren't third, Huddersfield were offered it Davy didn't fancy it Moran did blah blah and I understand the logic as highest ranked play off non finalists.
This added to the 'choice' of Australian opposition, such and such didn't fancy it etc needs to be sorted oh and the format, the time frame, the venue and we are on to something surely?
Let's hope the next two games carry on the 'good work' of last night it was a start

| I think our attendance of over 13,000 is very very good, if we had won the G/F and were playing to be World Champions then the HJ would have sold out.

If the national press had given it the same coverage as RU we would have needed extra tiers adding to the stands!

Mummy duck is now thoroughly depressed. SHE was the one that was famous for losing five in a row........until the 2011 GF!!!!!: |
|
| From the clubs POV the 13080 was a good result.
South sold out
West very little space remained
North & East always have gaps in the seating. TV was present which automatically takes some of the seats out of the question due to being blocked by cameras.
The argument of reducing the prices would have meant they all sold BUT how much would you have to reduce them by to sell them all, and then lets remember everybody else who turned up would have paid that much less.
The main things to come out of the game on friday ........... a good chuck of revenue for the club and a cracking atmosphere.

| Quote: Winslade's Offload "Final attendance was 13,080. That is pretty good, a pat on the back to the club for all the work leading up to the game, and hopefully Simon Moran will feel he has had the support of the fans.
I reckon they must have brought in approx. £300k for the gate (13,000 x £23) and after shirt sales and paying the RFL bond, made perhaps £130k. If Daryl Clark cost us £185k, that helps to buy another player at the end of the season ...if we need one.'"
Don't forget we will have to have paid everyone who worked on the night and also the extra costs (power usage).

Looking on FB, some people seem to think that because our owner has got money, he should pay for everything. It's about time that these idiots realised that the Club is a business and is run as such. Because a few premium tickets were priced at £45, the word was that all the tickets were at premium prices. One final point, if anyone thinks that was a friendly match, then they should think again. Some of the tackling was vicious.

Saints fans do....
I've a good mind to be as insular as them and say right I've seen the wires match. I've seen the broncos match (my favourite Aussie team). I can't stand saints and I can't stand Michael Maguire and his South's team (Greg Inglis apart) plus I've no interest in a game that the Aussies treat as a pre season friendly so I'm not going to watch it
Fortunately I love rugby league and can't wait for it I hope it's just as brutal as the previous two meaningless WCS games saints fans have had to endure.

| I was in the West Stand for no reason other than because it was the cheapest, and we were surrounded by loads of kids from local amateur teams who I assume were given free tickets, so not all of them were "sold" as such.
I think we got a good attendance because we only really get more than that in Super League when Wigan or Saints turn up with 2-3,000 away fans so not many regular or semi regular Wires gave it a miss. I still saw it as a friendly though, sorry. It was a good match and I enjoyed it, but if offered the choice before the match of beating St George or beating Catalans then I would have picked Catalans without hesitation and that still stands.

I agree, we said this travelling to Hull the other Friday that of our next 3 games (Hull, St George & Catalans) we would take a defeat in the World Club Series if we got 4 points from our other 2 games.

Definitely. St G match was great experience but the points are what matter the most!

| Like most on hear and as a fan of our great game I watched the three games, I listened to the lack of respect from Saints fans about how the other two games didn't mean anything. I know that the opposition from both sides was of a consistent level and so the games were hard and intense from the well matched teams and we all thought how close we are getting to the NRL standard. Then.... the real match, wow how close are we? The biggest ever losing score in the competition, clinical and intense from the start. Having seen that I am glad that our game (StG I) was as pointless and worthless as so eloquently put by Saints fans (well those that I know) and theirs was so worthwhile! I know which team I am happier with after these games.
