| how so? Wire beaten by a try, Wigan by a penalty goal .......?
forget these muppets on telly now.....if your game plan is to be as offside as you possibly can be to "get in their faces" you deserve to get bum banged... that mentality of rugby is no reflection on the rest of us....

| Wire and Pies are 4/5 in the 2014 league but rated 2nd and 3rd if you like.
Didn't St GI finish 12th and Brisbane 8th?
Saints finished top and GF winners, Souths finished 4th but won the cup so rank 1.
All being relative all the SL teams were playing teams ranked below them in the corresponding Leagues.

| Let's be honest though saints were the worst team to ever win the grand Final and it's showing. Not saying we would do much better mind.

i don't understand what last years rankings has to do with this year. Newcastle nights finished bottom one season then finished 4th on the ladder the next. last year the sharks finished plum bottom but the year before they were 5th and had a good run in the playoffs......thats the nature of the NRL.
in which other league for example do you get players like Paul Gallen, Jarryd Hayne playing in wooden spoon winning sides...?
its ridiculous talk ..........

Positives - both the Warrington and Wigan matches show we have come a long way since the embarrassments of yesteryear. The level of intensity was quite frightening - in both matches - and it will have done Warrington in particular a heap of good. Even though we lost I haven't seen a Warrington team getting quite stuck in like that for a long long time.
Very impressed with the forwards - Anthony England was great and looked top drawer until injured.
Currie was the only one who looked a bit iffy.
And the first time I've seen Penny this year - impressive.
Main differences between us and St.G-I were (1) unforced errors - Aussies were awesome. (2) Kicking game - ours was ok / good but second best by far to the Aussies
Negatives - Aussies were 'underdone' as this was their first real competitive match of the year and out 3rd - and they still managed to beat us. The Aussies didn't send their top teams (we're St.George 11th? last year).
2nd best? Arguably yes, but a lot closer.
Saints - mmm

| we always have it rammed down our throats by the "always your year" brigade that league placings and cups mean nothing. It's the play-offs that count, so forget about where they finished in their league.

| To the decent Saints fans
Fair play to your side. They still wanted to play, even when they were getting a gubbing.
To the Stains fans that were laughing at our expense, in a close game on Friday night....
well......, I bet you're a little quiet tonight. I hope your next pooh's are hedghehogs.

| Well this scoreline isn't going to do us any favours with the Aussies when it comes to discussing next years WCC.

do you think the guys at the Champions league think the same when the Swedish champions, dutch champions, turkish champions, norwegian champions, etc etc never get to a Champions league final and take the prize off Barcelona or Real madrid? No they realise there have to be winners and have to be losers.
Just change the format make it a round robin tournament and if its two Aussies in the final then so be it.......
