I presume if anyone is offering transfer fees it's likely to be Warrington as I can't remember another club in recent times making any form of financial offer for a player

Quote: 49er "Saints likely to be after Brodie Croft if Dodd ends up in Australia although McManus would hate to pay a fee.'"

Fortunately for Eamon, Mike Coleman would cover any transfer fees/ marquee salaries these days so it won't concern him. The last one he paid was either Fages or Amor (I can't remember which came first) so not totally opposed to it, though he is paying for solar panels at the ground at the moment, which tends to distract the club (who could forget cladding-gate)

Anyway since its being spoken about, Saints are expecting Hopoate, Roby, LMS, Mata'utia, Royle, Norman, Hill and Baxter to leave the club this year. Of those Roby and LMS are retiring, Mata'utia is returning to Australia (though apparently this is in doubt due to his concussion issues and may end up staying) and Norman is potentially going to be stepping away from the game, as hes making more money on his PT business. Royle, Hill and Baxter are all youngsters, and I hope for your sake its not Hopoate. There is obviously the Dodd situation which may change things, but I believe the club is intent on digging their heels in.

On the incoming front, there's obviously Clark coming in to replace Roby, a prop (rumoured to be Thompson, but hes also linked with Wigan etc - but would be "cheap" from a salary cap perspective as hes home grown), and an outside back (rumoured to be Keighran at Catalans ... though thats from someones milkman so take that how you like it). If Mata'utia does go we are likely to go for another outside back, and theres likely a few backup/ development signings as well, but no huge amounts of major changes incoming.

Doesn’t look good that, fair play trying things to keep your club going but it will have the vultures circling waiting to pick off the best players.

What is worrying, I've heard (from a fan) that they've managed 500 'supporter shareholders', so half the amount that they were seeking, admittedly using the minimum buy in as metric. Obviously, some generous folk with the wherewithal might buy in multiples or there may be some matched funding system to seal the deal.

However, whilst it's commendable, what is really worrying looking from the outside, is that I'd suggest that these ventures are more likely to be popular at the outset, the second 500 will be harder to find/convince.

Also, it's not sustainable over time if this top up is needed year on year I think interest will wain. Unless the pull is to be a fan owned club in an agreed number of years an RL Ebbsfleet as was?

Are contracts null and void if a team goes down.

I believe so yes, to protect the club concerned and give them the option of going part time if necessary.

Thanks, I find it strange then that Mason Lino as signed 3 year extension with Wakefield unless they are confident of staying up.

Yeah, can only think it's similar to Croft at Salford (with his very long contract extension) to try and guarantee a bumper transfer fee should any club fancy their chances.

The Mason Lino one seems somewhat pointless. Unlikely anyone will be prepared to pay a transfer fee when barring some miracle he'll be a free agent come September.

They still have to make plans in the event they stay up, he may also have signed a deal to stay with them should they go down. The new stand and pitch will get them some revenue next year to invest in the squad. I’m sure they have designs to be a SL club.

Dupree has handed in a transfer request. We should be doing our best to bring him in.

He'd be a great signing, quality replacement for mikaele, he could potentially be an upgrade.

According to bbc sport, Salford have turned down a 6 figure sum from Hull KR. He'd be costing quite a lot, but I think he'd be worth it.
