| Gutsy performance by the Wire and we look to have a potential superstar in Ashton.
Need to cut out stupid ball steals and the crossfield kick to king move is wearing a bit thin.
Plenty of heart and the BMM try barging Burgess over was a belter.

| Good performances from a number of our players - Ashton, King, BMM and Jason Clark to name a few.
But as has been said above, still a loss.
A lot more to come from Wigan though.
First game so can't read a massive amount into it but we do look very fit.

| Left edge creativity is a bit lacking and i get fed up of trapping the opposition in to try an win a penalty. But a good performance against the odds. Take that spirit into the other games and we'll be ok.

| Quote: Wirefan "Sky must have been watching a different game to me because I thought Wigan should be embarrassed by that result. Never mind talking about Wigan character. 50 minutes against 12 men and 10 against 11. We might not have won but my god you couldn't have asked for more.'"
Clarke said at the end wire were the better side, had to rewind it to make sure, he’s not wrong Ashton a bit raw with his lack of running round the back and his lines but that’s to be expected when he’s played wing once he gets that sorted will be some player.

Regrettably, I fear you're right, DH.
He had virtually a full season, last year. A full preseason training, and he's a shadow of the player we want him to be.
Time for Price to be ruthless, and let Currie know that the starting position (or even a bench slot) is no longer guaranteed.

Wigan played almost 60 minutes with only 2 subs, so I can see where Sky are coming from with the character comment.
The biggest questions I'd be asking as a Warrington fan would be over your last tackle options, you never really seemed to try and force repeat sets and build any pressure.

So much to be encouraged by. Some great offloading. Just some poor decision making at key times.
Officiating shocking. So much diving at the play the ball. Needs stamping out urgently. Much worse than last season already.'"
Too right how the hell is a knock on deemed a charge down then to rub salt in he gives that lot a penalty

| I thought Patton was awful. A series of kicks that went nowhere close to their target . . .

| I've given Jason Clark a lot of stick on here, but I will hold my hands up and say he was outstanding tonight. Can't understand why price kept taking him off. Very proud of the boys tonight, Wigan should be embarrassed to only score 1 try with 60 minutes against 12 men(and 10 with 11!)

| Wigan didn't actually score a single point when we were down to 12.
Very impressed with Ashton. Clearly he will make mistakes as well as do good things, I just hope the boo boys give him time. The other new signing, Gelling, took a while to get into the game and I hope to see more.
I thought King was terrific (another who gets slated but makes a massive impact in defence) and the commitment across the field was great. I really hope Widdop can sharpen up our lateral play because that still looks clunky.
Hill had to go. I love the guy but he looked leaden-footed for both of their tries. Not sure if he is more interested in bathrooms now but, if so, we need to start thinking about the future.

| The team showed heart and guts tonight and hopefully will improve as the season goes on.
Currie needs dropping, heartbreaking for the guy, but injuries have completely ruined him.
Austin's kicking game was awful, he had plenty of opportunities to grubber through and go for a repeat set but opted to go for the kick to the corner.

| Let's hope Toby King carries on as he started the season. Immense defensively.
Unfortunately I fear for Ben Currie. He could easily find himself out of our 13 when Hughes is back.

Just said that on the thread about him, sport is about winning not that taking part bow locks, right now he is not a winner but with Hughes out who would you go with Johnson?
