| Quote: WWRLFC78 "Am I the only on that thought Brown played a lot better than he had done previously? Yes, he got caught in possession a couple of times and threw that ridiculous pass which led to a try for Hull but he was looking for the work, he was linking better with Gidley and his outside backs and was running along the defensive lines looking for dummy and active runners.
Or did I watch a different bloke?'"
Nope..... He linked up very well with Gidley for two of Matty Russell's tries the passing from both looked quite crisp, and interestingly for Russell's first try when Gidley links up with Hughes, Hughes is taking the wrong line but fortunately the ball goes to ground and Gidley can link up with Toby King and put Russell in...
the interception pass, well they can go either way... as a watcher of Mark Thomas over the years older fans can sympathise..... If the Hull player stays on his man then Atkins Scores eaasy. but I have to admit I have always thought Brown is good for frequent interception passes throughout his career.
oh and it was his run and his perceived threat that forced the same Hull player who profited from his interception pass to rush up from an offside position and then along with 2 other Hull players hold desperately onto Brown giving us the match drawing penalty...
all in all a much improved performance but cant help thinking if Patton was on we'd have won.
i'd certainly be picking Jack Hughes out as my pitiful player of the week not Kevin Brown.

Matty Smith is useless. That's why Wigan have booted him out and he's at the worst Saints team in the last 20+ years.

| I think Brown, usually, does the basics consistently well, but isn't the sort of flair player that will ever really spark a team into life.
His kicking game is decent enough when seeking field position, but doesn't provide anything special in their 20m as an attacking threat.
We're still missing that off the cuff Briers replacement, pity it went awry with Sandow, but Brown isnt going to provide the flair, but can be a steady hand.

I don't think Brown was sold to Huddersfield, I'm sure he served his remaining Wigan contract out there...
I have a feeling the only selling of Brown, was to us.

I don't think Brown was sold to Hudds, I'm sure he served out his remaining Wigan contract there on loan.

He isn't useless. He's a solid dependable player with probably the best in-play kicking game in Superleague. He isn't flashy and he'll never set the world on fire but everything he does is correct and precise.
He wasn't booted out of Wigan, he asked to leave when his hometown club came in for him.

You must be out of touch. He's a Gf Winner, A challenge cup winner, a challenge cup & Grand final double winner, A Lance Todd trophy winner, and SL dream team player twice.
Yeah, He's really is useless isn't he?

Nope, he was initially on loan, yes, but signed a 3 year deal with Hudds in late '06, having another year to run on his Wigan contract, which was till end of 2007.

So you actually mean yes.....yes.
...and I still don't think there was a sale from Wigan, I think you might find he was released in the players interest as he wasn't going to figure in the plans at Wigan, and to pursue an offer from Huddersfield.
I have no doubt about your claim he signed a 3 year deal.

| I think we need a halve who has a bit of x-factor in him, more of a runner. I'd love to see us do what we did 15 years and raid Wakefield for Jacob Miller and pick up Tom Johnstone while we are there.

Just watched Super League Fulltime... The only way he could have played any worse, would have been to have turned to our posts, and dropped a goal to win it for Hull.
Are you a blood relative? Or just in need of some glasses? I couldn't care less what he's won at other teams. You could say the same about Tom Clevely at Man United when he was there.. Is he a world beater too I take it? The answer is no.. As is mine about Brown. He's average at best. Do have a love in as much as you like with Kev, but I'm not buying it.

I don't want to get involved but I think Moving On was talking about Matty Smith in his quote

It doesn't really matter the the he'll out of the both of them he meant! As I alluded to, they're both S£&54!! So the Cleverly comparison stands for them both.
