| He's been disappointing this season, but so was Luke Gale in 2014.

| I think we need a bit of perspective here guys. I would guess that Matty will almost certainly be on a pretty small wage and will only get a run of games if there are injuries to the squad. its not as though we are signing a first pick forward for 2017. He knows the training regime and back room, he came through the academy (so presumably we will get cap relief), he will show up as a homegrown player on our roster, we can use him in the reserves, and presumably he will be happy to get back to this side of the pennines where he has family and friends.
That all looks like a win win to me.

Fully agree. I'm not sure what calibre of squad player some people think we're going to sign for such a small chunk of cap space, or whether there are better players available for so little. He'll play 3 or 4 games next season at best when covering injuries. So it's a good signing for me.

I can't tell if you're joking or not, you know he's backroom staff and now playing in the reserves again?

| I can't believe that Matty Blythe has got a place in your 25 man squad,He must be a squad filler I guess?
If so this doesn't look good on your juniors coming through
Regarding Matty
He was OK at best for us but he certainly didn't look like SL standard to me and I am not disapointed that he has left

| A bit of over reaction on the board re Matty Blythe's return. What's to lose if he is on a similar contract as Ryan Bailey has been on this year.? Who possibly may be playing at Wembley this year, on merit. Remember the reaction to Ryan's signing for this season? I will trust Tony Smith's judgement.

| Calm down, it is clearly a salary cap thing since he came through our academy.
Not sure who mentioned Rhys Williams but he has had a wonderful season for London. A far better winger than Russell or Lineham.

| Cheap and easy backup, can play in a couple of positions and he's one we brought through. He won't be playing anywhere near regularly, so lets not get our knickers in a twist. I'm pretty sure the reactions to Bailey and Cox were similar (although I may admittedly have had a downer on them) and they've worked out fine.
The only thing I would say is I'm not sure we necessarily need backup options at centre or second row. We have a stack of young backrowers coming through and we've got a number of players who can cover centre to a reasonable standard. Still, welcome back Matty, hope it goes well for you.

| Matty Blythe is far from a good centre. But as WO states, he will be a squad man and feature heavily in the reserves ( does that mean he counts on the cap? Never quite sure on how reserve players count and if the do feature in the 1st team at any point, how they feature in the cap...?)

| Matty is a good centre!
Ok not world class but it's not hiim who should be recieving flak when our options are restricted with the failings of those responsible for recruitment in 2015/16 and he who was signed.
Matty can pass, break a line, find a line and defend one, with class back rowers around him, he could be very solid without being an Anthony Gelling.
Let's just give the lad our support. He is a good lad. Very grounded and he always made himself available to represent the club on so many occasions where the Yorkshire based players wouldn't.

We're crying out for wingers. We have 2 perfectly good centres in Evans and Atkins.
I'm happy Matty is coming back. Passion to play in p&b is always a bonus that's what I like about Penny you can see it every game he plays.
