| Until this season is over he is still a Castleford player and I don't mind at all that he's not mentioned us or that he's talked a lot about that he'll miss Cas.
If he's still signing this tune through the Winter then I'll be unhappy but he may very well not.
Give him the benefit that he's never even been seen as a Wire at all yet.

| I'm not bothered if he isn't dancing through the streets saying what a dream it is to be a Wire player.
He's a professional and I expect him to deliver on the pitch because it's his job. I'm confident he'll do that.
Every team will have players who's ideal scenario would be to play for their home town climb but they still perform.

| In any career, you often have two choices. You stay with that which is familiar and comfortable but perhaps doesn't offer huge rewards in terms of monies and success, or you throw yourself into new environments that are unknown, risky, demanding and provide a lifestyle and rewards accordingly.
I'm sure Clarke loves Castleford and didn't want to leave, but he could have spent his entire career there and not accumulated the medals Warrington players have won since 2009. A playing career is short and that's a long time to reflect on what might have been.

Nothing wrong with that, but let's not delude ourselves that, to Clark, Wire are merely a stepping stone in his career, so in 2 or 3 years when he inevitably jumps ship to a more prosperous environment, we shouldn't slag him off for doing so.
Personally, I'm just a little concerned about signing players who have more personal ambitions than any ambition for the club they are joining - As I said before, it appears Wire could be any side in the world to Clark, we just happen to be the ones paying the most for his services.
I agree this is probably the case for 99% of players who will sign for any club, but it would have been nice if Clark gave the impression he might actually be looking forward to playing Wire and not simply doing so to further his own career, or save Cas's board's finances.

| So everyone has decided that Clark is only using us as a 'stepping stone' and doesn't want to come here, because of the fact that he hasn't spent his last few months as a Cas player, talking about how excited he was to be joining Warrington...
Clark did the right thing by keeping his mouth shut and not mentioning Warrington. When Jamie Peacock left Bradford for Leeds he refused to do any interviews about Leeds until the next season because he didn't want to disrespect Bradford fans. But there have been a couple of cases where people have committed these faux pas and got in to trouble with their previous clubs: Mick Potter did a publicity shot with Bradford that appeared on the Bradford club website while he was still Saints coach, and I think the other was Luke Robinson who posed in a Huddersfield shirt while he was still playing for Salford.
We will judge how much Clark is committed to Warrington by how well he plays.
As for having ambitions to play in the NRL, it's a bit of a no brainer that any ambitious player would want to do that, or at least respond to a journalist question in a positive way about it.
Lets be honest the only way Clark is going to get his NRL move is if he maintains his Cas form with us. If he has a drop in form then I don't expect the big guns will come knocking.

| If he moves to the NRL in 2-3 years, we'll have had a great hooker who's hopefully helped us to more silverware....

Spot on, Dita's.
For me, these quotes have a worrying similarity to a certain player we had a couple of decades ago.
He started like a house on fire, and his career escalated rapidly.
I still remember reading an article about him in one of the Sunday papers (on the back of another superb performance in a Wire jersey), saying he's going to go to Rugby Union. Within 6 months, his performances (for us) had dropped a little, he fell out with the new coaching regime, and within weeks of that, he's gone to Leeds. 2 years later, he got his ambition, and played Union.
In that article, there was little mention of Warrington, only about him and his career. Step forward Iestyn Harris.
Now, from what we hear, Clarke's making the same noises, unless these interviews/articles are being HEAVILLY edited, and we're only seeing or hearing what we want to see or hear.
Let Clarke establish himself first in his new team, before we (or him) start getting a bit too far ahead of ourselves. Let's not forget, quality hookers (presumably) are 10 a penny in Oz. Over here, they stand out as the exception (Roby, Clarke...but not Cackybumbum)

There's a big difference between this situation and that.
We haven't got Alex Murphy as our Director of Rugby, we aren't broke, and the club isn't heading downwards fast.
An elite player like Iestyn Harris is never going to stay that long at a club in the state we were in back then.
