Hope everyone else doesn't resign or we'll have no team! I imagine you mean re-sign?

| Quote: Builth Wells Wire "Laithwaites' contract finishes this year. Sounds like he wants out.'"
So a rumour on the Saints board (that actually started with them apparently signing Ben Currie but when that was laughed out of court it became another second row from our u20s so it must be Laithwaite) now translates to "sound like he wants out".
What's happened to all the wonder kids from Warrington that Saints signed a couple of years back? At that time that supposedly sounded the death knell of Warrington's youth development.

That's the nature of rumours isn't it. The initial rumour that Saints were looking to sign a Warrington academy backrower was just that, there were no names attached. People came on here asking which ones it could be. Warrington themselves have been partial to a rumour or two per season for the last decade that never came true. The Laithwaite one does sound realistic in principal, out of contract with Warrington and not in your setup currently as he's on dual registration with Leigh. At 20, it's kind of first team or bust at Warrington for him now, particularly with the likes of Currie and Dwyer(?) in the first team ahead of him and you rumoured to be splashing the cash on Bateman.
The Warrington youth players we signed that were discussed on here are still too young are they not? They were signed at 14 three or four years ago? I know there are a few Warrington lads in our Under 18s now.

Well Saddened, Laithwaite could be 'realistic in principle', after all there are very few of us that really know what is going on. However, the Championship is a well trodden path to determine the quality of up and coming youngsters and Laithwaite appears to have had a very promising season with Leigh to date. He is viewed as an essential part of the Leigh team by their supporters, has scored quite a few tries, and been given MOM awards. So after nurturing the lad, I would be surprised if the Wire would easily let him go. I would have thought a more likely scenario would be for him to return to the HJ next season and play ? 8/9 1st team games. Perhaps they might swap Laithwaite and Currie on the DR at Leigh ?

Saints went in for Cooper before he went to Australia. I think it's a done deal your bringing him back.

Every year there's a thread on that at the end of the season from some kid's parents telling us that their son has signed for Saints because they get a proper rugby education at Saints whereas all Warrington do is make kids do weights and run laps and no skills training. I am still waiting for any of ex Warrington lad to make it with Saints or even at any other SL club! Apart from Scully of course who was different as he was already a top player with us and signed for a large fee.
I remember going back ten years or so the one we had missed out on was Jon Braddish who was compared to a young Sculthorpe, what happened to him? I think he played a bit of first team under Millward at one point?

Wasn't there a huge thread on here a couple of years ago involving Kane Ditchfield having signed for Saints and that Wire didn't deserve to keep good young players. Am I right in thinking the same lad is now back at Warrington?

| Morley has been out more the past couple of seasons but when he's been fully fit he's had some big games in the last two years.
His return v Wigan at home last year was unbelievable when we'd flattened them in the the sl home game and he was on fire v saints
at home when we also won. I remember talking to some saints fans after that game and they said that their forwards were avoiding running
at Morley. It's good that he's being rested more and wise that TS is saving him up for the back end of the season along with Monas
and playing the SL grand final competition by it's rules, rather than play it the way we did last season, although last season was just
unbelievable and brilliant, and home and away wins v the top 3 not to mention the attacking rugby we played.
I think that some of the talk of Morley nearing the end of his career will fire him on. Like others who've had their ability questioned at one
time or another; they seem to bite back harder and I have no doubt that will.
