One is particular fan of Igor... The drumming on Chaos AD and Arise in particular... and my favourite song 'dead embryonic cells' has some amazing drumming..... certainly better than phil collins anyway.

| Very biased opinion, purely for my love of Tower of Power, but David Garibaldi is amazing at what he does, and has done for so long.
Underrated main stream drummer is Chad Smith, I'd put him up there with Barker and Jordison in terms of modern drummers who define their genre.
Best YT vid, got to be either Neil Peart or the Tony Royster Jr one, that one I just watched over and over again when I was starting playing with a wide open mouth in awe each time!

I'm, actually, a bit of a fan of pre-A Trick of The Tail Genesis (or I prefer those albums). In fact, I was listening to 'Selling England by the Pound' on my way to uni this afternoon.
I am very aware of the fact you haven't mentioned Gabriel.'"
Fair play to you, young man. SEBTP, is one of the finest albums ever, but still a long way behind The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.
Gabriel = quality. Saw him live on the 1987 So tour. If you want a Gabriel album to listen to, I recommend his 1980 third album "Melt"....genius all the way through, until to the last track, the Godawful, Biko. What a way to ruin a fantastic album.

I never really got Bonham.
Yes, a very good drummer, but I just found his drumming TOO loud, and over produced on the records.
Death is always a good promoter of legend.
A few of my favs
Collins
Chester Thompson (Genesis live)
Neil Peart
Keith Moon
p.s. very underrated
Charlie Watts. A great sound from such a small kit

Quality.
He used a different doubleneck for the last tour.
P.S. How did the Hackett gig go, the other week? That album of his last year, is top notch.
PPS disgruntledgoat is pulling our plonkers. It's a quote from American Psycho (I think)

Gabriel
I actually got 'Melt' before I got any Genesis stuff (and before scratch and car). I think I may have been a bit put off by Phil Collins' later solo stuff (or bought into the image of him being an annoying weirdo). But yeah, 8th July 2009, I got that album and listened to it religiously. Was one of those important purchases. I have listened to it more than any of the Genesis stuff and the other Gabriel albums. I have to agree with you too about it being close to perfection (or 'genius', as you say) and Bilko being the weakness. It isn't exactly unlistenable but it meanders a great deal and doesn't really fit in with the tone of the album. But the first side(on the vinyl) is just a series of great tracks, bookmarked by my favourites on the album ('Intruder' and 'Through the Wire')
What is your view on' Foxtrot'? I can see the improvement on 'Nursery Cryme' and I am personally a massive fan (Get 'em out by Friday' and 'Supper's Ready' are close to audio nirvana) but it isn't the completed article.

That's a very similar list. I think there may have been a lack of originality from one of those authors.
I agree 7 through 1 should be considered but I don't necessarily think Peart is the best.
