A very good friend of mine always uses this line.

No, it really isn't. Stop being childish.

Wasn't the plan that he was being groomed for fullback?

Riley did a more than adequate job when filling in at full back last season.
I'd be more than happy and confident for him to start the season at full back.
I really don't know where the idea that Riley isn't good enough for full back comes from.

| He does do an adequate job no o e is denying tht, he returns the ball extremely well! The difference is the demension you get from having a ball playing fullback who can link up with the half backs like hogeson! We lacked that with riley in my opinion!
Riley's a proven try scorer on the wing!

| In the Knights game, that was the worst performance I've ever seen from Ratchford. You can tell he's not got the experience at fullback (not yet anyway). He just looked lost and out of position in attack constantly. More game time and training should help this but we'll see soon enough.
Riley has been given a first team jersey on the wing, that must be where Mr Smith wants him to be. I think Ratch will be groomed (if that's the right word?!) into a fullback like Tomkins was by Fadge.

| I hope Riley gets a chance again at fullback. Never lets the team down and played well at back end of last year give him a chance.

| I think we can expect Brett Hodgson to miss a few games next year, he reminds me a bit of a fragile china doll thats been dropped a few times over the years and hasn't been glued back together very well, its not a matter of if its going to break and need re-glueing again, its when.
He's been a great player over the years but his long RL career has certainly caught up with him once he hit his 30's, he doesn't have a big frame to cushion the big impacts you get in RL, maybe we could fit some air bags to him to prolong his career for a bit longer.

His RL career has caught up with him once he hit his 30s?
He turned 30 in 2008. Since then he has won Man of Steel for Huddersfield, been top points scorer in the league last year, and he played in 29 out of 32 Warrington matches last year so it's not as though he's becoming an ageing crock. His career hasn't caught up with him any more than Chris Hicks had.

We all know that he won MOS, we all know that he was the leading point scorer last year which was helped largely by a freak season from us (scoring wise) where we ran up numerous cricket scores. He managed to play more games last year mainly due to a lot of our games being one sided and not being very intense, just have a look at the scores and how often we would have had the ball in hand rather than having to constantly defend.
Why do you think that Huddersfield didn't offer him a longer deal ? Remember he was a recent MOS winner for them, he was also a prolific goal kicker. They knew his physical condition far better than you or me, we took a risk and for the large part its paid off, what happened to him against Leeds in the play offs which was one of our biggest games in the history of the club, especially our SL history ?
Raise the intensity where he has to work harder and he's going to struggle, i hope he doesn't struggle as he's a great player when fully fit, in some of those games he played last year i wouldn't be suprised if he wasn't fully fit, with Riley being away we didn't really have cover at fullback without causing too much disruption.

| Whether Hodgson plays a lot of the season this year or not, he was worth the contract just for last year, played a big part in taking you guys to the next level in the league.
If he's managed properly then when you've got Riley + Ratchford to come in for him to rest him when needed he can stay fit for the big games and do what's needed.
