I've just found out this bloke was someone I used to teach in a South London comprehensive, about 15 years ago.

Now while I wouldn't have put it past a good few of the nutters I used to 'teach' being involved in all this, what's puzzling me is that this bloke was a well-adjusted, personable young lad at the time. Most odd.

All i know is the Punishments...thats right "PUNISHMENTS" aren't Severe enough and the prisons arent Harsh enough.

the remedy for that isnt exactly rocket science so sort that out and a few of these wannabe gangstas will think twice about recieving a dry bumbing next time around...

How about sticking a highviz jacket on them with "rioter/looter" on the back and make them work in the communities they attacked helping to clean them up.

There's loads of people calling for these 'community sentences' now, making them rebuild the damage etc - do you really think they are going to do that? If you put them on the streets and say rebuild this or do some work they will just laugh in your face and tell you to f off and do more damage. Who's going to make them do it? The police can't control them and the probation service is being cut dramatically so that restricts the courts ability to give out community sentences.

In reality what you will see is a few high profile cases going to prison for a long time, and the police will make sure these are publicised, but the vast majority of the looters will get off with no real punishment because the courts know there is no capacity in the justice system. Even before this, Ken Clarke was trying to cut prison numbers and get people out of the system because the Ministry of Justice got one of the toughest spending deals out of the Treasury.

I blame the teachers.

Considering this board represents a team from a historically very working class sport, located in a working class northern town, I regularly find the views expressed to be shockingly right wing.

They are going to turn to crime, probably robbing your house as well as your neighbours so that they have some money in their pockets.

These rioters and looters obviously have very few morals, its them turning to crime which has lead to parts of the UK looking like a war zone.

Correct, hence my point above that if you stop their benefits then they are going to commit crime to get money. How do the goverment expect them to eat and survive with no money ? Its obvious what they are going to do so that they can survive.

Don't get me wrong here, i aint sticking up for them as i can't stand the murdering little scrotes, its just obvious whats going to happen if you take their money and houses away, they will commit crime and probably start squating in peoples houses that are unoccupied and for sale by breaking in and turning them into a right dump.

Nothing long term will be done about the people who had loot or smashed up some bulidings etc etc.Its a Pr a stunt by Dave Cameron to make himself and his party look good.I read in paper one looter was sentenced for 6 months for pinching a bottle of wine,now a kiddy fiddler who downloads a load flith.Dosnt get a sentence like that,when in reality he should be looking at a long strech at HMP.It just smacks of desperation what this government is doing.

Not sure of your point.....Most working class people are right wing, in the sense that they have an old fashioned racism ingrained in them.

Go to any 'working class' social club, where there will undoubtedly be a lack of 'foreigners', and talk of 'blacks' and 'pakis' will be viewed as acceptable.

Just go back not so long ago, and recall the treatment handed out to black players, and it makes a mockery of any idea that the working class are not right wing to a certain extent.
