| Spot on JWP.
I said exacly the same about the pressure relieving penalties saints got in that first half. There were a also couple of decisions that totally baffled me, the one where Riley and i think Meli went for the high kick to the corner, the ball went dead in goal and the linesman who was stood next to the play gave us a tap on the twenty but Silverwood gave the dropout ..
The other one was Gardner palming the ball dead in goal from a Myler kick.. we were building pressure and forced the repeat set only for silverwood to give saints the tap on the twenty.
He was very poor for both teams but well timed positional penalties hurt a hell of lot.
Saying all that though i think the conditions beat us more last night. yes i know they were the same for saints , but this year we have become an excellent offloading team and it just wasn't possible last night.

| silverwood was outstanding last night for saints. also that bit when meli hit the ball dead in the 'in goal area' and they ended up with a
20m restart. magic. he was fair overall but a couple of bad decisions seemed to wrongly change the momentum of the game.

| I'd forgotten about the drop-out/20m restart incident, that too was a shocker, over-ruling the linesman who was right next to the play is bad form when there is no screen to go to, these decisions are the reason that they are there on the night. The decision to give a penalty to Saints when no Wire player had been involved in the tackle was also baffling.
But my personal favourite of the night was when he managed to not wipe the tackle count after Pryce had picked up the ball and ran with it at least a few yards before it came free again and a Wire player picked it up.
The man was rubbish last night. That said mind, our kicking game was woeful and for maybe the first time in four games, we truly missed Briers. Whichever team came out on top last night deserved the win, we could not handle Eastmond at times and it showed in the final score.
Other than that, really proud the performance and the support last night, this season is still going to be a good one.

He was right about the tackle when Gidley stonked Gardner in mid-air. Our left side attack was in front of the kicker, Atkins (whose kick chase was fantastic all night) obviously didn't hear and by the time they collided, our players were 2/3 metres away at best.

| Can't blame the ref for the defeat, ten point difference and not one try coming from a controversial decision. A few from our mistakes maybe
Allright Silverwood is a poor ref, last night showed that up but why did he need to make us pack down twice at most if not all of the scrums that we had head and feed. Can't remember him doing that for Saints. Anyway we all know the team with head and feed get the ball so what was the point

| We should take control of the situation ourselves and not the give the ref any reason to make shocking decisions. It's up to us

| Didn't have too much of an issue with the ref tbh.
JWP makes a good point though about the tempo, especially about the slowing the game down. The scrum was a mess, and Saints were clearly playing the situation to slow it down when they were on the back foot.
Other than that, nothing to complain about.

| Silverwood made some poor calls for both sides. But the penalty count was 13-6 in our favour. I am not one for blaming the referees. However the game was ruined with Silverwood blowing his whistle at every slight niggle and the game never really flowed.

Is that stat right?
They got two penalties in the first two sets, and another two for the goals, so did they really only get another two? I don;t believe that.

| Regular SL games since 2007.
With Silverwood refereeing, won 4 lost 14 - win ratio 22%
All other referees added together, won 40, lost 30 - win ratio 57%
Not straight. Four letters, B _ _ T

| Quote: bombheadwire "No im sorry i disagree he had a shocking match and i think he made some realy poo calls in scoreing positions. one example was when two saints players Collided and he gave a penalty to saints saying one was pushed when he clearly wasnt add to that the holding down and 3 knock ons he missed. He is the worse ref in the league and to be quite honest i think the guys bent. I wouldnt say the best team won atall yes wire made some realy poor mistakes and saints scored off them but as a whole i thought we played better than saints and batterd them in defence.'"
I don't know what game you were watching from our perspective he gave you everything he could to be honest. We got penalised for the same things you got away with. with a penalty count in your favour you still couldn't make it pay. You can't blame that on the ref.

his decisons were shocking
1 - he waved play on when you had the ball when you clearly knocked it on from a high kick
2 - he gave a drop out when the saints player touched it last
3 - paul wood had the ball ripped out and he gave a knock on
worst ref in super league by far

| I honestly beleive that Silverwood is Bent but is also very clever about it and it doesn't just come down to the penalty count but also general decisions.
1. In the first half wire where completing their sets well and giving saints the ball back within their 10 only for Silverwood to releive them with an offside penalty 3 times out of five.
2. Touch judge gives a 20 meter tap and he changes it to a drop out
3. Perfect view of Woody having the ball stripped yet he gives a knock on
4. Gidley knocking the ball dead which should have been a drop out and him giving a 20 meter re-start.
He stopped Warrington from putting Saints under an increased period of intense preassure but is then clever enough to even things out across the games. Wire won the penalty count but every penalty was in a nothing position or at a point where we where not preassurizing the Sants Line.
Those stats above make interesting reading, would love to see other sides win / loss ratios with him in the middle.
