| At the risk of being shot down in flames, I still believe that Penny will be a star.

He already is a star, just has a few flaws. Very few players haven't. I think most opposition fans would love him in their squad if they got the chance. Saints forum recently had a thread on the very subject. He can do things no other winger in SL can do. I would love to see him consolidate a first team wing position by the end of this season. He can do it.

| Regarding both Penny and Cooper, I would much rather trust Tony Smith's judgement than yours.

I'd rather trust Ray Charles judgement than Latchford's...

| I also think Penny is worth patience because he's a one off, you hardly ever see any lad who can run that fast and be as well balanced on his feet at full speed. When we look at those Aussies, Hayne, Folau, Inglis, Slater and so on, we always marvel at how they are incredible athletes and how we have nobody like that, Penny is part way there, he might be miles behind them as an overall player but he does have their speed and athleticism and possibly the hands as well. OK he's never going to be built like Inglis or Folau but he could be built like Matty Bowen for instance.
The problem with a lot of our fans is whenever someone emerges who has speed, they want him in the team and they say "who cares if he can't tackle, Offiah couldn't tackle" (which is bull, I don't remember teams kicking to Offiah or targeting him) but then when he does play and makes a few mistakes they say he's quick but he's never an RL player. For years we have had young wingers at Wire who were never more than average, some were popular because of their effort but you could tell straight away they were never going to be a threat, Penny is always going to be a threat.
Remember how people wanted Nicky Royle in the team, Royle would have got butchered if he'd been a long term SL winger, he was never as good as Penny.

1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

| Quote: Latchford Wolvesfan "Alex Thompson, Rhys Williams and Lee Mitchell will make the first grade in 1 or 2 years, i aint seen much of Rhys Evans or Alex Hurst so wont comment on those two.....McCarthy will get a fair number of games this year and will have the chance to prove himself...... Blythe, Cooper and Penny may as well go work at Woolston tip.'"
I'm not sure what to say to this. It's perhaps, no definately, the most ridiculous thing that I've ever read on here and once you factor in that Ajay & Dean Richmond post on here, you realise the magnitude of that statement.
Cooper - May as well go and work at Woolston tip.
Jesus, the lad was incredible last year, for me, way ahead of Paul Wood now if it was a straight choice. He's our third prop behind Morley & Carvell for me. I don't think there's a better young prop in SL.
As for the other two, the last game at Quins, that's what they need to do, every single time they enter the field, if they both do that [Blythe may well be a centre judging by the latter end of the season - he may have tricked us that he was a backrower] then they'll both have long, prosperous SL careers, with Warrington or elsewhere.
