| The problem he's got now is, he's alluding to players not playing for the team and how he wants to play, but if he doesn't make significant changes (significant can be dropping 1 name) he'll start to look at bit daft.
Injury update to run through who he can't play, then a team sheet to identify who he won't play, without saying it explicitly.

| The tail has been wagging the dog at this club for a long time now. I read an article where Tony Smith explains Mickey Highams move to Leigh as the most bizarre transfer he has dealt with in May 2015. Just before the start of that season we accept Paul Woods transfer request and then we end up in the middle 8's.
I know woody and Higham were good mates but I do think that for a number of years players have felt comfortable in challenging the coaches decisions and if they dont like what is going on then not quite putting the required effort in.. I am sure there were players that were disappointed that Wood and Higham left but you are professional players.
I also read an article where Brian McDermott explained that Tony Smith had told him why he would never be a coach which led to Brian Mac changing his outlook so clear that TS was straight talking and honest to provide an opinion on where people were going wrong. Not everybody can handle that (you won't hear Barrie McDermott say a lot about TS on sky).
I suspect that some current players are not happy that we didn't retain Chris Hill or that Powell has brought a couple of Cas players and backroom staff with him and it might have started to upset the player power that has existed at Warrington since Morley and Monaghan left.
We had the same thing when Price put Ryan Atkins on the naughty step (although I do think that was a mistake).
I dont think established senior players are above criticism here. Yes they appear to give their all but you dont know what goes on behind closed doors.
I am happy that Powell is the right man for the job and time to break that cycle of player power. You dont see saints players sulking because they didn't keep Coote on for another year. You dont see them chuck their toys out of the pram because Wolfe has brought his mate Hurrell over to Saints. They get on with it because they know that they are not bigger than the club and if they did sulk they would be on their way out.
In just hope that Fitzpatrick, Middleton and Moran are able to provide the same message because if there is an inkling that they are not aligned with Powell then he is into loser from day one and the cycle will continue.

I don’t know if there are issues such as you describe. I do know that the Saints players gave a darn good impression of trying to get Cunningham the sack.
I am coming round to the view that Price got as much out of this group as was possible.

| Loving reading these in-depth analysis of player disputes, top level failing and coaching issues.
My modest take is we just need a prop and some wins.

It's more than though isn't it. Powell himself has talked about "butting heads" and lack of effort has been on display. One big prop isn't going to solve that. We didn't lose on Sunday because of the lack of a big forward.
I think we are heading for a show down. Been a long time coming, I back Powell all the way.

You don't think Luke Gale, Zak Hardaker, Rangi Chase, Danny Maguire, Danny Richardson have / had egos ?
For me it's nothing to do with ego's, it's more to do with how bang average Warrington's forwards are. Collectively I think that pack must be maybe in the bottom 4 in the league. Therefore the 1 6 7 9 are somewhat limited with the opportunities / territory. I'm not massively sold on Ratchford too, and again how many sides does ratchford totally displace any other full back in the league , I don't think saints Wigan hull catalan cas hudds wakey kr would want him over their options.
100% Powell knows what's the expectations are at Warrington but I think he needs a clean sweep to remove the deadwood and add his own full input of player.

Fair points. But there’s far too many obstacles to Powell being given those kind of Powers at your club . If you did send gave him 3 years he’s capable of it ……

| There has been something wrong for a good while now. Even Price had a good moan on more than one occasion being mystified by performances on the field after "training well all week". The players have to learn that they do not choose to play when they feel like it and those that cannot cope with this concept have to go. It should be coach power not player power. Powell will know that ultimately it is his head on the chopping block and he has to make big decision and perhaps hurt a few ego's for the good of the club.

These things crop up every time there's a poor performance or patch in form, I do wonder who the bad apples could considerably be.
You've got your prc types, Davis, King, philbin, mulhern and now apparently holmes and minikin.
On the other side you had the Wigan lads, hilly, ratch and hughes. Mainstays, long time members of the playing squad
From being a social media stalker you don't see the others mixing and matching too much. Danny walker still seems to knock about with Dec

| The level of inconsistency we have seen over the last few years has to be down to attitude. I just wonder what it is that contributes to this. The 'apparent' lack of effort, enthusiasm and confidence is a head thing not a physical one.

I cannot recall a Warrington coach ever publicly saying ...
[i"I feel like I’m butting heads with some of them about the way we want to play"
"the players need to sort their heads out"
"We have no players playing consistently well"
"We’ve had a good chat after the game about player accountability"[/i
It's not as if this is all forum tittle tattle, these are remarks attributed to Powell.
I think it's more than a "poor performance" or "patch". This is a real problem.

i was referring more to the 'something has been wrong for a while' aspect.

| Personally, for me at this point, i'd be dropping.
Widdop,
Philbin
Currie (he was ok going forward at the weekend but part of that appalling left side defence 2nd half)
king, (last week i was on the fence, this week i'm fed up with him)
and holmes.

That is the easy bit. So you now you have to replace them with 5 from outside last weeks 17.
So out go... Widdop, Philbin, Currie, King and Holmes. Can you name the 5 that come in ... ??
Ashton ... still injured by the way and let's say Darryl Clark is out as well (just to give that true feeling of reality).
So pick your full 17 and let's see what we think?
