Top six 2005 - Trinity.: |
|
| Apparently Trinity have signed Noah Booth from you? Seems he’s a young full back.
Does anyone have any insight into him as a player?
We only have one fullback so could see a few opportunities this season.

| Watched Noah play for Wire Academy and Reserves (The Reserve League is a total joke).
Good prospect, but he has Josh Thewlis and Cai Taylor-Wray vying for the 1st team fullback role here, who are currently better players, so a move to new pastures is probably best for his development and future prospects.
A change of environment and being based back in West Yorkshire will do him a power of good.
Daryl Powell will have watched him play and must rate him.

| Yes agree with BH. He is a tall lad, quite pacey and knows how to come into the line to create an overlap. Good goal kicker, I think he kicked 76 last year for the Reserves and Academy. He played one game in the Roses Academy last year and also featured in two games in the Wire tour of Australia. A good prospect.

Sigh. I would have preferred he had to strive for it before May. Safely on the gravy train with Currie.
Why did we have to do this now? He can't speak to other clubs for 4 months. I cannot believe bigger clubs are targeting him either. Why not see how he goes early in the seasom to find out if we have got the 2019 version back or the 2020-mid 2023 version again.

| Don’t we get all sorts of Salary Cap benefits with him being home grown?

in a round about way yes...
There used to be a rule that meant 50% (up to £100k I think) of a player who had been at the club ten years did not count on the cap - only able to be used on one player.
However they did away with that some years ago, I believe now there is up to a £100k dispensation for providing 'Super League Standard Players' that replaced it. I'm not sure how that is calculated....
The homegrown marquee allowance would also be applicable to him - but I'd be surprised if we used it on Philbs.

Did he play at full-back instead of his normal position as a centre ?

According to the League Express match report, he played fullback.

Very disappointing Abe Froman contribution to this recruitment thread - I got very excited seeing his name pop up only to see him asking about a positional change for an opposition player. Don't ruddy post on this thread Abe unless it's juicy for the love of god.

Interesting. Warrington wanted him as a Centre. We pulled out of negotiations with his agent because he was insisting on a clause that guaranteed him the full back position.

Well, I could tell you that if Tom Burgess doesn't get an offer in the NRL that beats what we've offered him (definite marquee wage) he's as good as nailed on. But I'd be guilty of over-sharing.
