| Some great tries scored.
Sandow unreadable.
Pity about Dwyer's injury. He was having a wowser.
That first half was domination. It was helped by the worst Cas display I've ever seen (bucked their ideas up a little, second half). Hope they turn it round, soon. They play RL the right way.
Best we've played for a LONG time
Unsung hero of the night for me, though, was Kevin Penny. Whenever we scored in the first half, Cas would aim the restart at Kev. The cheeky metres he made from leg drive alone, always built a platform for a great set of six. He must've "pinched" 100m from this, throughout the match. Well done.
Downside
That annoying bugle call they nicked from cricket, whenever we scored. Gimmicky trash.
"Singing corner's" "tribute song" to Monaghan. Pathetic. Only here 5 seasons, but could easily be classed as a club legend, and they sing THAT about him. What next, taunting Briers (when he runs on with a water bottle) about his drink driving ban?
The Jimmy Savile chant. Crass rubbish, and no place at a Wire Cas game (or ANY game). I'd rather like to think Cas fans wouldn't do the same at the reverse fixture, regarding Stuart Hall (from our side of the Pennines).

Songs about Nathan Massey and his wife were uncalled for, too.

| Fans try to get under opposition players skins, that's British sport to a tee.

Was thinking about Penny while watching the game last night. His leg drive and technique driving the ball in now is fantastic. I can't remember the last time he got pushed backwards. He is also doing more work in the pivot positions and really stepping up his responsibility levels. I think his understanding of the game is very well developed now.
Also watching Russell, it's amazing how much his game has come on from last year. He can now pass the ball backwards and to his own players. I thought he was very one dimensional last year and didn't see him kicking on. I thought Johnson looked streets ahead of him last season in the few first team games he played but Russell fully deserves his place this season adding some really good passes to his great scoots. Great what a little competition for places can do along with some hard work in the off season.

Monitoring outside for the people inside: |
|
| I'm not one of these anorak program tickers who record everything that happens during a game but I didn't notice many penalties conceded by Wire and we seemed to have a good completion rate. If the stats confirm this, it goes to show that if you get the basics right, the rest will follow.

The stats say we gave 5 penalties - Gidley, Clark, King, Ratchford (2)
Error count was 7, Cas made 13.

The radio said it was Russell, then said Gidley after hearing the announcer. I saw another match report claiming it was Russell but incorrectly attributed to Gidley.
